This is one of my second Led Zeppelin song, and "Fool In the Rain" is one of my first Led Zeppelin song. This is acoustic song from the 1971's Led Zeppelin IV album. The other acoustic Led Zeppelin song from Led Zeppelin IV album is "The Battle of Evermore". John Bonham does not appear on this song, and "The Battle of Evermore" too. There is no drums on this song, and as well as "The Battle of Evermore".

Whatever any of bitches think this song means . . .you're all wrong. "Going to California" is slang for butt-hole licking. Man to woman butt-hole licking that is. Woman to man is called a "Grizzly", and it is not recommended. If you look closely at the words you will see what Robert is getting at. Obviously, his first swipe at a brown starfish inspired him to write this. Beautiful.
P.S. - If you're wondering what man to man butthole licking is called, listen to U2. . .Bono will tell you.

This song changes me everytime I hear it, so haunting & beautiful at the same time. Check out the version on the BBC session where Robert is still feeling out the lyrics. It is emotionally humbling.
I hate this song | Reviewer: Led head | 5/29/08
Now, I am Led Head from WAY back, but this is one of the few songs of theirs I cannot stand (4 sticks is the other that comes to mind). Had to say this after reading all the praise for this one... sorry all. I guess it is different strokes for different folks.
good song | Reviewer: George | 2/28/08
California is kind of about hopes and dreams for everybody, it all started hundreds of years ago when people would leave the east coast to go to california for a new start, or hoping to find gold in the gold rush. Now in modern times it is still the same state of mind.
Oh My God, This Song... | Reviewer: Charlotte | 2/13/08
This is my all time favorite song. Zeppelin really outdid themselves. The poetry, the passion, everything is perfect. This song makes my eyes all teary every time I listen to it. Songs like this one arent just written, they're lived.
touching | Reviewer: Matt | 12/19/07
This is the song that taught me everything. It taught me more then math or science. It taught me about life, love, and everything that falls inbetween. Rob couldn't of added anything more to this song.
went to california and found the woman | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/7/07
intensely personal meaning for me. although i literally moved here, california is a state of mind more than a place. it's about hope for change and robert captured it perfectly. every time i fly home i think of this song.

mesmerising; every time it plays, the sheer feeling of isolation that we all experience is emphasized to an even greater extreme... it leaves us compelled by fascination as to how a lovely song can bring about such agonizing feelings of lonliness. regardless, one of the most superlative songs of all eternity.
