But first, I would like to say that the band themselves are very talented and yes, one of the most amazing metal bands of all time. I must say the riffs, drums and vocals are very melodic. There is something deeply spiritual about the music by Lamb of God and many other metal bands that I sense, and perhaps many people wouldn't understand what I mean. I think that overall the song is quite good. Being a person who actually does believe in God, I know what its liked to be judged, and I'm not one to go judging straight away. What I'm trying to say is I think what the lyrics tell us is that in all the problems and struggles in life we face today, people belive and pray and want resolve and peace in this world, but nothing seems to be getting better. People hope for a saviour and pray, and the world around seems to be getting worse. Read the lyrics of the verse carefully. 'Oh... Now witness the end of an age Hope dies in hands of believers Who seek the truth in the liar's eyes' the song seems to say in a sense that the world and its hopes are slowly dying away and there is nobody to listen to our prayers.-But not completely. The lyrics have a very deep and sprirtual/psychological meaning that does make us wonder. Looking at the chorus, these lyrics are the deepest lyrics of the whole song, that, as someone did mention, can be taken in different ways. 'Take hold of my hand For you are no longer alone Walk with me in hell' Is there nothing left of us as we begin to end? Can we only linger in the 'void of existence' that bears the burden of our miserable end? is there only darkness? so that's all there is to comfort us in a world with no saviour? is there no hope, so that there are only melancholy times of darkness to get us through our problems to the very end? going back to how these lyrics can be taken in different ways, this does have a slight brush with satanism and the deciet of satan. Being only 13 and not having enough knwledge to fully understand this myself, I can only do my best to explain what I mean. In many movies, there is a villian that wants power, and there is a child born of the kind of power who can be easily led to join the 'dark side.' When that person comes to a rebellious stage, what often happens is that they meet the enemy, and they are led to belive their destiny is with the darkness, and they can have great power beyond what they have imagined. The song dosent say the same message, but what the lyrics of the chorus mean to people do link [in a way] with what I'm saying. What it does link with in this area is that now we are led away from the hope of 'the believers' wich seems to be crumbling, we only have what is left. The darkness of the world and the hell beyond. We can live alongside it, as in 'walk in hell' gaining another type of 'hope' from that, or we can crumble and suffer more greatly. Either way, we are never alone. These are not my personal beliefs, but I mainly try to debate from both sides of the argument.
