The Reviews about Remorse Is For The Dead (page 1/1)
------ performed by Lamb Of God

My Opinion | Reviewer: Guitarocam | 6/30/2008

I think this song, like many others has to do with Bush sending soldiers to Iraq. "The dirty lord of the manor surveys his filthy domain" - he watches his soldiers go overseas to claim the oil. "Constructed a monument to denial" I think refers to Bush denying that he sends the soldiers there for no reason, because ever since the American Revolution, of the USA wasn't in a war, the president found a conflict.

"If these walls could talk they would tell a horror story". This line sort of goes with "If murder means justice then martyrs are made" from One Gun (The Sacrament). It talks about the cultural relativism in Bush's politics. Iraq isn't allowed to have weapons the USA gave them during the cold war, so it's perfectly ok for the USA to disobey the UN and invade?

"Just enough to keep it together, never enough to make it work" basically talks about how Bush always beats around the bush (mind the pun) when he's questioned about his motives. First it was oil, then weapons of mass destruction. He never directly gave a solid explanantion for his motives.

The chorus (from "Pile it" to "and take us with it") talks about how Bush doesn't care how many lives are wasted as long as he gets the oil or weapons of mass destruction (which Iraq would have already used if they existed, by the way)

"Resentment steadily grows / laughing in the gallows" talks about how everyone starts to hate Bush and laughs at his foreign policy.

"Full throttle determined to fail, pedal to the metal asleep at the wheel" talks about how he's blindly steering the military to nowhere.

I personally believe "We are the lucky ones, welcome home" is sarcasm.

"Poisoned nerves and bloody antidote
Violence is not an aberration, its a rule.
Dying beyond the pale.
Your beatings will continue until my morale improves." basically states that Bush will continue until people believe him

"I don't hate you, I'm just removing the enemy". My god I love this line. It sums up President George W Bush to a tee. "If you can't get what you want, just eliminate the compitition.

The ending few lines, "Remorse is for the Dead" along with the title of the song just means that they don't care about the living suffering the people are going through.

This could either be completely false or 100% correct, I don't know because I am not a band member. This is just my opinion. Knowing Lamb of God's premise is very anti-Bush can lead one to see the meanings of this song. Lamb of God aren't just a band to headbang to, they are much deeper, that is why I love them as artists and musicians.

This song kicks ass, but it doesn't feel like "getting your veins ripped apart" lol... FUCK NO... It feels as if you're invincible, unstoppable and no damage in the universe can make you hesitate. A controlled rage of pure destruction, to be reborn stronger than before.
