Look, Randy Blythe, (for those of you who don't know who he is, you prolly shouldn't even be posting on this thread,) said himself that LOG is "pure American Metal," as a statement to what he calls "true Metal." He wants to create a division between acts like LOG and Nu-Metal as well as some "pop-Metal," acts out there. You have to understand that there is a growing situation with the standing of street punks and metalheads out there. To those of you that live in the Commonwealth, or Europe, etc., I'm not sure if this is something that is very prevalent in yer neck of the woods, but out here in the States there's a bit of a strange phenomenon going about. It used to be that if I would walked down the street in one of the little prissy suburban white collared neighborhoods blasting my box to some Hatebreed or Throwdown, people would look at me like I'm some kinda freak,(even here in Texas that was common shit, and TX is a Metal stronghold in North America.) Nowadays they'll just look at me half the time and say "awww yeah maaaan, that's the hardcore shit man!!! Yeah I listen to that shit too. Cuz I'm all bad ass and stuff. I mean, I can't even name what band that is that yer listening to, and I don't even understand the meaning or emotion behind the music. My daddy just got me inta Yale, and I'm gonna sport my favorite Slipknot or Slayer Tee shirt at my frat parties!!!!" I mean I don't know if any of you guys have ever seen LOG live before, but this is something that Randy Blythe will even speak about in between songs on occassion. Talking about how we need to "keep true," and we gotta hold on tight to our music. And whether what LOG plays is Groove Metal, Neo/Post-Thrash Metal, Death Metal, progressive Sludge Metal or whatever you would like to classify it as, its real fast paced blood pumping music, coupled with intense lyrics that are wailed out in heavy fashion that has clear characteristics from most every extreme Metal and Punk genre out there which does include the death-growl and screamo camps. So enuff with all the "hey fuck you, its not screamo, I know more about subgenres of music than you do," bullshit. Its lame, its stupid, its all based on arguable technicalities, and most of all, its reserved for the pseudo-metalheads. And pseudo-metalheads are not necessarily posers, but they're in the same gol-damn ball park. Kinda makes me think..... cause everytime I go to a concert that engages in the wall of death, I like to stand in the middle and get torn up.
