Main review for this album | Reviewer: David Whitton | 4/8/2007Although it was a flop upon it's release, Kiss' self-titled debut is considered one of the finest albums of the group's entire career. This album is packed full of great rockin' tunes like "Strutter", "Nothin' To Lose", "Firehouse", "Gold Gin", "Let Me Know", "Deuce", "100,000 Years" and "Black Diamond". On this record, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley showcase their ability to write good riffs and hooks. There are no ballads on this album and it's recorded raw by producers Richie Wise and Kenny Kerner. Only one of the songs on this record is weak, that is their cover of "Kissin' Time". Despite being full of great songs, this record only peaked at number 87 in the USA and hardly broke the band into the mainstream.
