just listen to the music | Reviewer: Wylie | 10/20/09
It's pretty selfish to not want Kimya Dawson to get more publicity. I discovered her through juno which opened up this new world of music that I didn't even know existed. That doesn't make me a bad person. I'm glad it happened. And I don't listen to her music just because of juno either, but even if I did, what do you care?
I'm not gonna go all political about music because people make it more complicated than it is. If you like the song, if the lyrics mean something to you, then listen to it. If not, don't. Simple.
It's not like "hollywood" stole Kimya dawson's songs away from her. Don't you realize she was probably thrilled to become better known and to have more fans? This isn't about her (I guess the word is jealous?) fans. If you DO actually listen to her music, you would be happy to have more people share in the joy of it, not want to somehow claim it as your own. We all love this song, and her other songs too :)
This song means so much to me and to so many other people too.
P.S. i love how the part about Bush is in caps haha
call me up before you're dead | Reviewer: maddie | 10/15/09
thank god for the juno movie!! i'm a big indie fan but i had never heard of kimya until i say the movie, and i'm not ashamed to say it.so despite all the rage people seem to have about how big they are now, and i get that you like feeling special cuz you knew them and other people didn't, i'm glad this movie made them bigger. and this song is my favorite!
Shush | Reviewer: hilsy, | 10/6/09
Okay, I am so sick of Indie fans getting all high and mighty. Congrats on discovering the band before we did but get the fuck off your high horse and imagine being an amazing band without air time coz your fans never spread the word about how amazing you are, in case, god forbid, you became mainstream. I'm not saying it's a little ridiculous how massive Juno made Kimya Dawson, I agree with that, but I couldn't care less. I've got bands I've loved since they were tiny and guess what, now that people love them they can afford to do underage shows that aren't in pubs and hotels, so all their fans can actually enjoy their music.
Shush, and unless you're a better musician than Kimya (which I highly doubt) just shush and let everyone enjoy the music.
Send me an IM, I'll be your friend.
Just kidding :)

Get over yourselves. | Reviewer: Laura | 8/20/09
So what if you have heard of Kimya Dawson before it was on Juno? Kimya did decide to allow her music to be on the film, she's not exactly just going to turn down such a big offer, because her old stuck up fans don't want other people to hear/like her music. I've been fans of other artists and bands before they were publically known, but I don't have huge rants at people for knowing them after I did. Get over yourselves.
get over it people | Reviewer: Jesska | 4/11/09
Yeah, so everyone has their opinions on the subject of Kimya Dawson and the Moldy Peaches , but so what, the point of this review is to let people know what you thought of the song, not that you have known of Kimya Dawson and/or The Moldy Peaches longer than everyone else, I agree with all the REAL fans (not ashley) who say that you should be super happy that everyone else gets to experience the greatness of Kimya Dawson :)
Anyway, on with the review, I thought this song was one of the best by far on the movie Juno, and the song's Kimya chose for the movie were amazing, the movie wouldn't of been the same without her input, I really like the political stabs, but also the slight humour to the song :)
I hope that the movie Juno has made everyone come to appreciate just how talented some of the lesser known artists of the indie scene really are, it just goes to show that you don't need to present a half-naked booty shaking skank on your music video's for you to have talent, some people have a natural, un-corrupted talent that can only be found in some super talented people, like Kimya :)
Peace out children x

i think it's awesome that kimya and the moldy peaches are finally getting some credit. hurrah for indie bands who finally make it big. in case some people forgot (ashley), artists go into music to make it so lots of people can appreciate it, not just a few pretentious music hoarders who just love going around listening to "obscure" music so they can brag to everyone how they heard it first. it doesn't really make you cool, it makes you look like a huge jerk and a major poser. real fans want everyone to love the music that they do. so good for juno and good for kimya for getting her stuff mainstream, because it rocks and i think everyone should listen and appreciate it.
Are you guys serious? | Reviewer: Phred | 12/28/08
Does it really matter how long someone has been a fan? That's like saying punk is dead and everyone with spiked up and/or multicolored hair is a poser, when in actuality, it's just evolved.
Oops, I nearly started a rant on the wrong subject.
In my humble opinion, you're an idiot. You heard of Kimya Dawson because of 'Juno?' F*ck you, you're not a real fan!
A real fan of this artist is someone who enjoys her musick, that's all the qualification needed.
Furthermore, why would she agree to that soundtrack if she didn't want people to hear her musick in that movie?
It's not like she was instantly catapulted to the mainstream or anything.
Ok, song review time. It's really catchy, and I covered it at a show a few months ago. I love Kimya's songwriting and simple melodies, she's beautifully childish. I think her most potent quote, though, is, "I am a goat, in a moat, with a boat. Who's got the crack?"
Love thesong, love the artist, kinda hate the fans after reading this tripe. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/3/08
That's right, kids! Kimya Dawson should stay underground! Never you mind how getting exposure could possibly lead to more fans, and more gigs, hence more money in her pocket. I'm sure she started singing just for you, and I'm sure she would've loved to keep herself under wraps. Grow up. It's a big world out here.
true dat | Reviewer: movement | 10/9/08
yeah i agree Juno did blow up kimya and the moldy peaches. in a good and bad way. yay for kimya but not for her old fans who know whats up. not only did jumo blow her up but in the song anyone else but you. they didn't even sing the lyrics in order just the lovey dovey ones and the other parts of the song is what truly makes it amazing and diffrent. so f*** Juno although it was a good movie.
