stop this train | Reviewer: gabby | 4/10/08

this is just plain brilliance. i couldn't have chosen a better set of words to describe this stop-this-train feeling, and it's something we all can relate to. a lot of things were going on in my life when i first listened to this song and i couldn't think of a better way of putting this feeling down of paper. the song's just perfect. he's so talented, but it's got to be hard, i mean, just getting it all down on paper... what you're going through, what you're feeling, what's going on in your mind and just letting the whole world know that. that can't be easy. his songs are so soulful and the lyrics are so completely honest, he's just amazing. this is my favorite song and john's my far the best musician out there.

My 13th birthday was a few weeks ago, but i still get this song so much.
I tear up anytime i listen to it.
John Mayer is truely my music idol.
The part that hits me most is when it says when their still around, and you'll be safe and sound. My biggest fear in life is having to see my parents go, and this song addresses my fear so well. This is definately my FAVORITE song.

I'll never stop this train... | Reviewer: Tony | 2/13/08

Still struggling at 39, trying to get it right. Two kids and one wife later, I don't often feel as if I'm getting any better. My father died at 46. I was 24. I never "had a talk with my old man..." . I can't tell you how many days, especially at this point in my life, I wish we would have. This song may not be the answer to all of the things left unsaid between a father and a struggling son, but it is a great start. It hits me squarely between the eyes in terms of internal stuggle, the fear, and the overwhelming sense of it all. Atleast I know someone else has similar feelings. I'm not drowning alone. I guess I will continue to bob along, sometimes going under, but always trying to coming back up, until I reach my own shore. Thank you, John!

Turn 58 . . . | Reviewer: Rose M | 2/2/08

...like me, and you'll really understand! It is beyond me how such a young man can have such an old soul. Just a HUGE talent. I played the numbers game for years, but when you're my age, there's no way to make the numbers come out right, and there's no conclusion but that your life is more than half over. Such bitter sweetness, such understanding. John, you rock me!

Awesome song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/8/08

This brilliant and beautiful song becomes all the more poignant as you get older. I lost my mom in 2001 and my dearest dearest dad in 2004... I pine for them every day and know what it is to "cry as you're driving away in the dark." At age 60, I am still "only good at being young" --- I'm a huge John Mayer fan and thank him for all his music but most especially this song.

AMAZING | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/8/08

I can listen to this song a billion times and still love it. I totally agree with him. This is exactly what I've been thinking lately, but I could never put it into such an amazing song as this. BRILLIANT

i love john | Reviewer: cat | 1/23/08

this song makes me tear up everytime i listen to it alone! and songs never make me cry. i'm soon moving out for college, terrified, so all the lyrics in this song hit me so hard. i love how his stuff is just so simple yet so brilliant. i love J.M!

Sad | Reviewer: Riley | 1/14/08

I liked the song at first(and I still do)but it's
just almost too sad... my mom's hair is getting Grey,my grandpa is about to die,and my dad has been
through lots of cancer and sickness. The song is
beautiful, yes, and i still listen to it every day.
honestly,won't someone stop this train?

The line that gets me is the part where he doesn't
want to see his parents go.If you really think about it,even how much your parents make you do
work, you know you don't want to see them go.
And the other line about the generations coming
by always hits me too.I learned how to play the whole song and the tapping technique. It's fun.
But anyway,thanks John!

This guy is unbelieveble. I feel a warm stream of energy and emotion when I listen to his music. And this song is, untill now, his best work, in my eyes. I've had tears of joy and sadness listening to this song. It's a masterpiece. Johnny, you're a fucking legend...

Acoustic gem bridges the generations | Reviewer: rmd | 1/8/08

Wow, i was introduced to JM by my 18 yr old daughter, used to go into her room & hear this voice coming from her laptop iTunes, & wonder who it was. Now I am as big a fan as her. Take some acoustic classes at McCabes in Santa Monica, and "Stop This Train" is a rare tune that a 20 yr old student can share with a 50-ish guitarist like me! Thanks JM
