I just knew that the guy singing it would always yell that he wanted to run down the halls of his high school and scream at the top of his lungs. I thought that was hilarious. I didn't hear it for a long time after that but just recently (yesterday, in fact) on my birthday just as I was getting in my car, this song came on. I really listened to the lyrics as the song played and they really speak to me. As a student, there is always so much pressure to perform well on tests. This is a great song that just tells you to rise above the real world, so full heartbreak and think of other, more important things. I just love this! So when I was feeling a little nostalgic a year or two ago, I revisited old songs and shows I listened to and watched in the early 2000's, and came across this masterpiece of masterpieces, "No Such Thing." Me, naturally being older, would listen to the lyrics because I knew I loved the song when I was younger and wanted to know exactly what I was listening to. I was inspired. This song was one of the things that taught me how to open up and just have a good time! Lighten up, there is no such thing as a real world! As a high school student, I feel privileged to listen to this kind of music, as opposed to a lot of the mainstream stuff out there now! Reality is different for everyone, so live yours to the fullest, because there's no such thing as a real world! I can't even begin to explain the impact John Mayer has had in my life. Then I hit highschool and it was still bad. Then in second semester of my freshmen year, I made same interesting friends. And it was they that helped me realize that no one is normal. Nothing is real. I din't quite understand at first, it all seemed wrong to me, having grown up with a father to whom everyone thats not just like him is wrong. Off. I've always strived to be 100% in everything, which gets really stressful. I am the typical "Straight A" good girl. Trust me,it's a really hard to role to play ALL the time.
