So love soon is about a girl he dated when he was twenty one along with four others. You guys are way funny in how you interpret his songs. She wasn't sure he was real plus engaged but on a split. How do I know all this? Because she is my wife now. From Portland.

Listen people you have to understand that John is an emotional guy, everything in this guys life revolves around his relationship experiences and the love for others... John writes his songs about what is happening in his life. As for the new album "Battle Studies" he is obviosly coping with break ups or just going through a different part in his life. He is human just like the rest of us!! BTW kudos to John as being the best Artist in the world!! (obviously my opinion)

i'm with all of you...the earlier John was so much sweet...i still like his songs now but yeah his being a douche....i miss the old john...Love Soon is one of my favorites...i wish john would return to his real self....

I like most of his songs and this is definetely one of the best ones. It just saddens me to think that it might all be fake... or just in the past. The earlier John is much more appealing to me than the douch he is showing himself to be now...

This is one of John Mayer's more forceful lyrics. Trying to convince a girl who clearly thinks that she is better than him to admit that all she really wants is to be with him, even if they are from totally different social groups or classes or cliques. His voice is soft and sweet and caresses you like warm rain like always, but his lyrics definitely show you that John doesn't want to be taken advantage of anymore. "The bottom line is laying in the bed that we've been playing in tonight..."
