A little physics | Reviewer: caroline | 10/31/08

I'm a physics student and learning about the nature of gravity about how orbits of satellites have to have that perfect balance between speed and space from the source of gravity they are attracted to. Or else they'll fly off in a tangent from the orbit or will increasingly spiral inward to it's collision. Also everything has its own gravity. It's source of gravity increases with mass.
From our perfect youth in the womb where we float until the gravities of the bodies of planets and destinies and human bodies drag us, corrupt us and even bring us down to the grave. You just want to avoid the gravity of some situation of so much mass cause who knows if you can keep up this speed. Love this song

Gravity--life stages | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/29/08

I am in the fall approaching the winter of life and just watched John on PBS. I heard Gravity for the first time and felt he had encapsulated the stages of my life. What pure lyrics! Delightful emotionally and spiritually. I enjoyed my mind's reviews of growing, falling in love, having children, loss of love, episodic relationships. passion, losses, God and giving of myself. I have to go out and buy the album. It is delicious..Tutu

Where the light is... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/21/08

Whatever your personal 'gravity' may be, this song can remind you to stay with the light, lift yourself up, call on your own higher power to surround yourself with your OWN light and let it shine!

what i think | Reviewer: Austin | 9/9/08

i always thought this song was about resisting temptation. As in when he says "Gravity, wants to bring me down". "and stay the hell away from me". John Mayer has a unique way of relaying his messages into his fans in a poetic way, and not just by coming out and saying it. I am a huge John Mayer fan and always will be. My new favorite is Say, if you havent heard it i strongly suggest it.

Numbers/Gravity | Reviewer: X's Auntie | 8/6/08

I saw the same show on Friday. At the end of the show, I heard the song and my heart just dropped, and I cried. It was so fitting. I was moved so much, that I went out the very next morning and bought the CD. Let's not even talk about my nephew who is now ten, was into Mayer three years ago. Go figure! JM has a new fan in me.

oh so moving | Reviewer: marti davis | 8/4/08

when i was watching the series "numbers" on television, a death row prisoner requested to see his daughter before he died and as she was coming to his cell to see him, they start playing this song. i cried, and cried, the voice of mayer was so raspy, so real and it was such a perfect song for their first time meeting. the girl was 14, and had seen dad for the first and last time. i wrote the words down and googled it.
it's a must have. my, my, my what a voice john, you go GOD!

Power | Reviewer: Rome | 7/27/08

i love what kash said..."It speaks to people and you can inteprete it anyway you want, as long as it connects to you in your phase of life."

To me gravity is the drugs and everything that comes with it. thats is my gravity and its trying to bring me down. and i refuse to let it

this song is helping me to stay away from it and i thanks john mayer for making this song. For Me And Everyone who can realte to this song is some way

an inspiration from God | Reviewer: a bornagain believer of Jesus | 7/12/08

i thought that the song relates to in a biblical sense.if you're not careful the cares of the world will choke the Word of God right out of you.i luv the part when he say "keep me where the light is" that tells me that God is light and there's no darkness in Him. so as long as i'm in the light gravity can't keep me down.

Gravity | Reviewer: amanda | 6/18/08

I have always liked this song. To me the word 'gravity' in the song symbolizes reality. Like reality is setting in and bringing him down and he just wants to stay up, stay afloat.

This song took on a whole new meaning to me and my famly when my grandmother was recently diagnosed with the incurable, and terrible, cancer of the pancreas. And how profound that the song we heard playing over head, was John Mayer's GRAVITY. The Dr's words were in perfect poetic harmony with the lyrics of this song. My sisters and I have had my gradmother write the word 'gravity' and are looking forward to haveing it tattooed on each of us in my grandmothers's handwriting. Music is universal, and extremly powerful.
Thank you.

mayer music | Reviewer: barnes | 11/8/07

I am a devout fan of his music, this one is my favorite. THe SRV music mentor in him is so evident. He is a great musician and I like his style. This song is just as he says in Abbey road, struggling hard not to fall from the rung on the ladder you are on.

What it actually means | Reviewer: kash | 11/5/07

actually gravity is not totally about falling in love.but the beauty of music is its universality. It speaks to people and you can inteprete it anyway you want, as long as it connects to you in your phase of life.

In "Live from Abbey Road", a studio session series John Mayer actually explains his song.I get the sense that it is about personal struggle, against hopes dreams and yearnings, darkness and temptation.Gravity refers to the sense of sanity that grounds one and brings one back from your world of dreams.John beautifully puts it himself:"it's about not falling from whatever rung of grace that you're on"

You could go youtube "live from abbey road gravity".

John Mayer,I feel, is a very real artiste that writes from his heart, about very real things. His music makes me laugh, makes me cry and makes me remember all the important moments of my life.
Thanks John!

Cheating.. No doubt | Reviewer: Gurrenteed | 11/2/07

I agree that it is about cheating. Jomama said it.. "Dream of ways to throw it all away" These lyrics clearly point to some fool that wants to throw a good thing away, hopefully that wont be me anytime soon.. Great song.. One of my favorites.

Gravity=Falling in love | Reviewer: andrianikodemou@hotmail.com | 11/1/07

The song is definately about love and actually falling in love. It must come from Albert Einteins quote: 'Gravity is not responsible for people falling in love'

bad day | Reviewer: brooke | 10/18/07

I had one of the worst days of my life, I played this song while driving and could not stop sobbing. It let every emotion out that I was feeling and was very theraputic... a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders after this experience. guess you have you have to go though it to really feel it...
Gotta end with: "gravity.. stay the hell away from me"
