I was on a train one night on my way to work when i suddenly heard this song and i became teary-eyed. I can not, in anyway, relate to the song but I really felt his emotions in every word that he's singing. So heartbreaking. Not only this, but all of his songs can really make all his listeners feel the connection, the love, the pain, all emotions... A great singer, song-writer, guitarist. What more can you ask for? So talented, so Amazing... <3

I just heard this song when I decided to download some John Mayer albums. When I was listening on it on the bus I suddenly felt nostalgic of the lyrics. The song really does remind US of our past. Too bad I wasn't able to watch John perform here in Manila. *Sigh. It really reminds me of my true love named Eru. Eru Seki to be exact. She is the only girl who made me feel loved. I remember back then when I told her that I could change for her. She was the only girl that I met who told me "Silly you. You don't need to change because I've liked you for what you are." She now has a boyfriend but like the song of Gwen Steffani, we are still cool about. I still remember the day that I met her which was back in 2008, she was just at 4th year highschool and I'm currently on my 3rd year of college. I always remind her every year about it and whenever that part of the year happens (25th of October) I feel like I want her back. *Sigh. ^~^

Can you see how john plays with the lyrics? If you read through, try picturing out that john is with two girls: his ex and his current girlfriend. He makes comparisons between his girlfriends and tries to put the lyrics in a conversational manner. It's like his sitting in front of the girls and tries to say or tell them how he feels about each of them. Obviously he still likes the ex, thus reminiscing the past they shared

this song is so sweet and genuine :) but what i noticed the first time i heard it was how different it is to his usual style like using the violin, prominent background vocals, dragging words along with beat in a pattern. not my favourite jm song, but definitely a good one.

i really don't know how to express my feeling towards my ex now..
shes just to simple,no make up..to be honest she wasn't my type..and sometimes she did something stupid that makes me so hhh..but deep in my heart i love her,its just weird i think..
we broke up..a year has past and this feeling doesn't change at all..
she has someone new now,but im still cooling down..
when i listen to this song,im crying..remembering me to my ex..

this song is absolutely amazing. it's been one of my favorites since the first time i heard it about ten years ago. it's so honest and john's guitar skills are phenomenal. i had someone play this to me once before on guitar and i got goosebumps just listening to it. well done, john.

Words are not enough to appreciate this. Listening to it, motivates you and relaxes your spirit. It motivates you to go with that someone. And it's a really good dong to reminisce about the good times, how it all began or sometimes, even the bad times. For me, It's either his best song about Love, or the Best song in all the world. He has more creations that have moved me.

this is my new favourite song. when i first heard a immediately clicked replay over and over again.
at first i thought the lyrics meant the girl died in the 9/11 attacks. but after reading these previous comments im not sure.

Once you have found that someone, you can never forget about them, even if you find someone new, they are always in your head. Even if everyone else is telling you shes perfect and good for you, you just cant see it.

These lyrics are more then just words, it is like he is telling a story and that is what makes his music genuinely unique, he doesn't just sing about ex bf & gf's in a immature way like most of the teen stars do today.He is great and will have even more success in the future! He truly is a fantastic artist!

I've always loved this song, but the live version is really why it has become my favorite JM song.
"That you were my first love, is just dumb luck, a technicality, you were ahead of me"...that line gives me chills and completely applies to the relationship i had with my first love.
so simple, but so heartbreaking.

I hung out with an old friend of mine the other night that i used to date.... being with eachother that night brought back so many feelings and memories, he told me there was a song by john mayer that always makes him think of me, called comfortable. That no matter which girl he dated, he would think about how 'comfortable' everything about us had been...It's exactly how we were; carefree, our first love, adored life, crazy, adventurous, spontaneous, COMFORTABLE! It really had come September, and i knew why it had to end, even though he didn't understand... all of the lyrics tug at my heart because of how exact they are, this song is so... perfect.

this song makes me cry so much...me and my ex listened to it all the time as we fell asleep...he used to whisper it in my ear when i was crying...the lyrics mean so much to me...he loved me for who i was...wanted me for me....said i looked better with no make-up...always made me laugh...perfect song...perfect artist...i love it
