The Reviews about CASTLES MADE OF SAND (page 1/1)
------ performed by Jimi Hendrix

What lyrics. | Reviewer: chris | 6/6/2007

I've been listening to this song for years. But never read those lyrics. I can't believe how profound these are. This puts hendrix over the top for me.The lyrics are full of irony. But for me, the last verse is not about the girl wanting to die as much as it is she finds a reason to live. And that the sandcastle slipping into the sea is her wish to die; she now hasa reason to live. Does anyone agree?

...slips into the sea, eventually | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/29/2006

I like this song because of the message that it leaves you with, not all things turn out ok in the end. Most of the other songs that you hear just tell you that everything is going to be alright and nothing will ever go wrong. Everything slips away eventually "castles made of sand fall into the sea, eventually". Anothing that really touched me in this song is the last verse. "There was a young girl, who's heart was a frown 'cause she was crippled for life, and she couldn't speak a sound and she wished and prayed she could stop living, so she decided to die. She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore and to her legs she smiled you won't hurt me no more, But then a sight she'd never seen made her jump and say Look a golden winged ship is passing my way
and it really didnt have to stop, it just kept on going..." I would highly recomend you to listen to this song along with all of the other Jimi Hendrix songs. He was a TREMENDOUS artist!
