The Reviews about White Rabbit (page 17/ 28)
------ performed by Jefferson Airplane
awesome song | Reviewer: john | 2/9/08
the thing that gets me is the reference to the song in fear and loathing in las vegas. "I want you to throw this radion into the tub with me when white rabbit peaks" the song is obviously about drugs. the book is not. Lewis Carol lived before LSD was invented though he was addicted to absinthe and opium as many of the people of that time were. he wrote the story for a freinds daughter whose name was alice liddel. the entire story was created off the top of his head in spoken form to alice and her sister while they were riding a boat across a lake. as the story was spontaneous and was told to 2 little children it is highly unlikely that what people interpret as drug references was indeed such. btw hookahs were for smoking tobbacco long before they were used before anything else.
Masturbating | Reviewer: sexually pleased | 1/29/08
To this song makes for one of the most amazing orgasms I have ever had. Now I'm going to round up my man with some acid and see how it works with two.
opium | Reviewer: alice | 1/28/08
Lewis Carroll wasn't on shrooms when he wrote alice in wonderland. he'd have to eat a LOT of them to write the entire story. plus, you dont exactly hallucinate when you eat shrooms. you do to some extent but its not like when your doing acid or anything. he did however, do opium which fueled his amazing, creative ability to write the story. this is a great song. and when your trippin, your suuuper creative which explains alot. alice in wonderland is my favorite story and i love this song too.
MASTER PIECE!!!!!!!!!!!! | Reviewer: hannahgatesbt@gmail.com | 1/19/08

abaut the song | Reviewer: just me | 1/18/08
the song its abaut drugs, and of course its abaut alice in wonderland (and the seconmd part "alice through the looking glass).
Lewis Caroll suffered an schyizophreniac variation illness and fucked it up with strong allucinogens (LSD).
its still a really great song. Whoever thinks it isnt abaut drugs should read both books and look the lenguage that the song uses. its in every line :S:S
have a nice trip :D
by the way, marilyn manson is directing and acting a movie abaut lewis caroll and his suffering called "phantasmagoria" (its the title from a multiple part poem that Lewis Caroll wrote)
its about............... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/16/08
ya, its about how lewis carol was on drugs and how its so ironic that people tell their kids not to do drugs when they grow up yet when we're kids they read us stories about doing drugs, smooking hookas, eating cakes and mushrooms taht change us, and then freak out when we come home talkin about drugs or listening to songs with drug referances, its very....... ya....

I heard something about Alice In Wonderland Syndrom and heard it referenced to the person who made the book. They say he had it and felt no one understood him, so he decided to write a story based on his symptoms.
"A psychopathological syndrome of distorted space, time and body image. The patient has a feeling that the entire body or parts of it have been altered in shape and size (metamorphosis), associated with visual hallucinations.
Psychoanalytic interpretation by Todd has made more understandable and plausible the illusionary dreams, feeling of levitation, and alteration in the sense of passage of time that Alice experienced. Alice trod the paths and byways of a wonderland well known to Carroll, her creator, who suffered severely from migraine. The majority of patients have personal or family history of migraine.
In Lippman’s report, one of the patients stated that she felt short and wide as she walked, calling this a ”tweedlike dum” or ”tweedle dee” feeling. Associated disorders may include apraxia, agnosia, language disorders, feelings of déjà vu or jamais vu, dreamlike or trancelike states, and delirium.
The disorder was first described in 1955 by the English psychiatrist John Todd (1914-1987), who named it for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland."
Neat, huh?
By the way, I think everyone's opinions of this song are great. Music is the greatest gift in the world; it brings people together to share their thoughts and ideas. Music is about expression and raw emotion. It's wonderful everyone takes it in differently. Keep music alive! <3
Great music!!!!! | Reviewer: Matt K. | 12/31/07
I always thought this was Airplanes best song. Yes....it's about drugs....but then again what wasnt about drugs back in '68. If you watch the Vietnam movie (Platoon) with charlie sheen, you'll see him smoking pot while this song plays.Still an awesome song 40 years later, and in my mind ranks beside Jim Morrison's Light my Fire '67

Proof of a great song... | Reviewer: Lucifer66 | 12/22/07
Wow! I can't believe after all these years the debate about this song is still raging strong.
Although I was only a kid back when this song came out, I did live through, (somehow) the drug culture that spawned this and much other great music of the era. And I allways understood this song refered to a teen that was tripping while reading the book. As for the author of the book...who knows if he did drugs, but that wasn't the point.
Part of the reason it is a great song (besides the wonderful music it was put to) is because it leaves the listener to interpet it in thier own way. It gives you clues to a story and your imagination fills in the blanks, making the listener part of the story.
So make of it what you will...bottom line is "Feed your head". What you feed it is up to you.
