It's about drugs... | Reviewer: nicole | 12/17/07
i don't even do drugs and when i heard this song that was my impression... it has a stoner type music and c'mon let's be honest... Alice HAD to be on pretty cheap drugs for the trip she took lol. Great song though. :)

It was about Vietnam. I am a veteran from San Francisco and this song is about Vietnam...hence the soldiers drumroll in the background. I lived through it and anybody from my generation would tell you the same damn thing

Its okay. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/5/07
Everyone should just calm down. It was meant to be interpreted in whatever way you want to interpret it. It's a powerful book, movie, and song. So just think what you want about it.
You're all dumb | Reviewer: Gertrude Frost | 12/4/07
The song is about Mushroom trips, hence the line "And you've just had some kind of mushroom". The book, if any of you have read it(the movie is not by lewis carroll, its by disney) might have had something to do with drugs, but LSD had not been invented yet, as he died in 1898 and "LSD (acid) Invented in the 1930’s by Albert Hoffman". It was most likely opium, seeing as that was used in their pain killers of the day. So, if anything, it was opium. idiots.

re 'smarter than most',to say 'alice in wonderland was written way way before lsd' shows your a total fucking dumb ass, there's no mention of lsd in the lyrics only mushrooms and since lsd was first synthesized in 1938 (germany) however the 1st known mushroom experiments date back about 8,000yrs to the sahara desert..qed your a donkey
The song is about drug use, the book....maybe not. | Reviewer: Dave | 12/1/07
The song is definatly comparing Alices' adventures to drug taking, however, although it is believed that Lewis Carroll probably used psychoactive drugs, (the common painkiller of the time — laudanum — was a tincture of opium), there is no real evidence to suggest that he abused them and/or wrote the book about them. Check Wikipedia for more information.
Hope that clears it up.
idiots. | Reviewer: megan | 12/1/07
yeah alice is this girl that the author wanted to be with, but she was very young. he decided to write a book about her in his own wonderland, hence the name alice in wonderland. what kind of people could think of a plot like that? only innocent children and adults who have been taking mind altering drugs. i don't really know HOW you can deny that the movie and book are about tripping. i mean, she shrinks, gets bigger, meets all these people. whoever thinks it's not, obviously has never eaten mushrooms or taken acid. you go on a crazy trip. and that's exactly what alice did.
