------ performed by Janis Joplin
interesting side note | Reviewer: Jason | 11/14/07
I'm not sure about the heroine reference but that is interesting... I have however heard numerous times including a music history class that Janis re-did this song for Jimmy Hendrix (Jimmy was her Bobby) I always found that to be pretty neat
Yes, "harp" does mean harmonica | Reviewer: Mac | 10/29/07
look it up. also, why would she say harpoon? The idea of it being a heroine reference is one of the dumbest things I have ever read.
Harppon is not short for harmonica! | Reviewer: Michael | 9/30/07
I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna= I pulled out my hyperdermic needled for some heroine. I's playin softly while bobby sang the blue's= I was so high on heroine that bobby sounded like an angel.
kris & bobby | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/4/07
Yes, Kris Kristofferson did originally did sing this before Janis did. But even so, Kris's "bobby" was a woman. So obviously, whoever posted that doesn't know anything about the song in the first place...
harp is right | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/30/07
the lyrics are correct. harp is slang for harmonica, hence it fits in her bandanna and she can was playing softly while bobby sang the blues. again, blues and harmonica go together quite well.

peace | Reviewer: anonumous | 8/13/07
first of all, these lyrics are correct. the lyrics are "pulled my harp" why would the late great janis joplin be keeping a harpoon in her bandana? the following line says "i was playing soft" no one softly plays with a harpoon. it had to be some kind of musical instrament, i mean i agree a harmonica would have probally been a better choice but come on people leave a classic like this alone..
Harpoon? | Reviewer: Jarred | 8/9/07
If anybody is reading this I'd suggest they disregard the whole afformentioned "harpoon" lyric correction.
The song is written correctly as it is.
harpoon | Reviewer: mo | 8/7/07
its not
"I pulled my harp on out of my dirty red bandanna,"
its
"I pulled harpoon out and my dirty red bandanna"
Written by Kris Kristofferson | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/6/07
Recorded and performed by him before Janis. Words were slightly different - it was about two - presumeably straight - dudes on a road trip.
