I think that you’ll find, if you were to do the research, that credit for this song should be given to Otis Blackwell and Jimmy Jones. Birmingham native Jones reportedly wrote the original version of the song in 1955; later, when he teamed up with Blackwell, the song was reworked and released in 1959. It was followed in 1960 with the other popular tune for which Jones is well known, “Good Timin’." The copyright for a song and most creative works vests immediately in the artist/writer. Because of the limited space on CD's and the like, proper credit sometimes gets lost. In the days of vinyl, the label would have cleared indicated something like "(Blackwell/Jones)" after the song title.

I heard this song first time 2 years ago, sung by my boyfriend. I was really moved by the sweetness of the melody...
I met James Taylor this year and he was as well so sweet!

what is thec most sexully explixit song ever in the history of am radio airplay? | Reviewer: brian | 10/9/2007
The thing that i want to say is simply a reminder on the fact that neil sedacka wrote and recorded this timless ditty about 1961 but his version was rock and roll to a very fast bwat, as I remember, with the result being that you could not make out his lyrics. I believe this is as he intended, othwise, no airplay, maybe. Our sweet baby James very simply slowed the beat lyrics being central to his version. I love them both but Taylors' is actually sensual. Sing it all the time. I do wonder is this means Sedacka was the real handy man.
