The Reviews about Breakdown (page 1/1)
------ performed by Jack Johnson
it's true! | Reviewer: heidi | 10/26/09
as per jack himself, this is quite a literal song about he and his band taking a train through france and western europe (#12 on the CD is obviously european-derived). jack is the son of a famous surfer, is a "retired" surfer himself (after an injury), but he still LOVES surfing. apparently a stretch of the tracks gave the band (from hawaii, all surfers) quite a view of the tide of france. after being on tour and needing respite, they wrote this song. literally hoping the train would breakdown so they could have a relaxing day of soaking in the sun and surf. i must say, though, one of the many things i love about jack johnson is how he lyrical he is in the sense of relating to people... he's got a beautiful spirit and that shows in his music. i, too, wish the proverbial train in my life would breakdown at times, and i can't listen to this song without smiling. :) ALSO- if you've not heard it and you're a jack fan, you MUST get the curious george soundtrack. it doesn't disappoint, even for a kid's movie soundtrack.
Life | Reviewer: Brittany | 10/1/09
I think this song's more about life in general. You try and try to get further and make things better, but you don't have time to enjoy it. You get so stressed you do feel like breaking down, but you know that it won't help anything, and that the only thing that will help is to keep working, even though it's so much stress. You have goals you want to meet, but no matter what you do something gets in the way.
I love this song (and the CD it's on), and I know it fits my life right now (along with, probably, over half of America right now in this economy...)... I love Jack Johnson...he really sings about real life issues that alot of people go through...and it always helps to know you aren't the only one going through those things. To know you aren't alone.

I heard this song playing in a restaurant in goa, India. It felt like its meant for that kind of clime and lifestyle. Beach, sun and Jack Johnson strumming on a guitar. :)
This song, to me is about needed a bit of help from the universe to 'change tracks' on life's course to take time to smell the flowers in those corners between home and work, pick up random conversations with strangers and live life in the present.
Right on Ryan... Right on | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/29/08
In addition to Ryan's song meaning on 10/3/2008 I would say that we put lots of emphasis on time and meeting deadlines that we hardly get to make the true human connections that are essential for our healthy state of mind, body and spirit. I believe "Breakdown" is from the p.o.v. of a man who realizes that his too-busy lifestyle is taking him somewhere that he'd rather be away from.
song meaning -Ryan | Reviewer: Ryan | 10/3/08
This song is about a man stuck in his ways and trying to change. Deep down he knows that he needs to leave this life behind, but he knows it will hurt so he is scared. He screams out loud, though his actions, that he needs to breakdown. He needs to reflect on his life and make the move/change in his life to actually appreciate it.
What does this song mean to anyone/everyone... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/24/08
I just heard this song and it appeals to me. I havent decided why. Sometimes it is nice to think about a song that appeals to you, and give it some time before you just label it. Does this song mean anything to anyone? and take your time to think...

Beautiful | Reviewer: KD | 12/3/07
This is such a beautiful song. It's a kick back and chill a while song and after reading his lyrics, I think that is what he intended. We're all going through life so fast, there is so much going on. Sometimes we need to get off the trees just to appreciate all that we see.
