The message is as simple as the title, we're better together, and there's nothing more, he's simply saying that he and the supposed lover in the song are better when they are together, no matter how complicated is life. Maybe some people find stupid a song saying this, but I think that is great that music and lyrics can be so simple, life is complicated by itself anyway. And a true nihilist wouldn't loose his time talking about it or even givin a shit about what JJ says... I love this song, no matter what anyone says xD my girlfriend and me we live far away and we have to take a plane to see each other, so this sensation of being "better together and forget the problems" is very close to me...
