------ performed by Irving Berlin
Riddles review | Reviewer: Richard Reifenheiser | 9/5/07
I've heard a few versions of this great tune but being a Sinatra fan i just love the emotional and classic voice of Frank doing this.

I love this song so much! I'm singing and recording it as soon as I can get my stuff to work.
Classic tune | Reviewer: john dillon | 8/9/07
There is a wonderful version of this tune sung by Mary Steenburgen of all people in the Movie 'The Butcher's Wife' with Jeff Daniels and Demi Moore. Mary plays a frustrated saloon singer who finally follows her dream to sing in a saloon and does a lovely job on this melancholy classic. I'm learning it on guitar tonight, what a haunting old tune.
Harry Nillson's haunting version saddens me | Reviewer: Shawn | 8/5/07
As I listened to Harry Nillson singing his version of What'll I do a deep saddness filled me as I relived the loss of so many family members that have passed on and a girl from my youth that still possesses my heart, if only she knew it.
Many artists recorded this fabulous song | Reviewer: Joyce | 8/1/07
I've copies of Rosie Clooney, the Wainrights, Linda Ronstadt, Judy Garland, The Fleetwoods, Lena Horne, Julie London, Allison Kraus, Sinatra,Cleo Lane, Mathis, Michael Crawford, Nat King Cole, Georgia Gibbs, Chris Botti, Dave Navarro, Harry Nillson and Danny Wright, all great renditions, but I agree Harry Nillson has an edge here. Just goes to show that the great music never dies. Will we say the same of rap and hip hop?

Give a Listen to Harry... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/28/07
Harry Nilson does a fine version of this song on his
"A Touch Of Schmilson In The Night" album. The whole album is a treat.
The McGarrigle hour | Reviewer: Mike | 2/16/07
Loving this song rendited by the Mc Garrigles, Loudon Wainwright and the Kids. It is heavenly...and yet, very saddening and hard hitting
A Melancholy Treasure | Reviewer: maggie | 7/8/06
I recently had the good fortune to witness a duet of this song and it was heavenly. The duet was performed on "The Prairie Home Companion" radio/Tv broadcast (I saw it on PBS) by Garrison Keillor (sp?) and Meryl Streep, both of whom did a fabulous job. The song has haunted me ever since and is a testimony to the fine songwriting of Mr. Berlin (not sure they credited him as songwriter when they performed it, but I was not a bit surprised to learn that he penned it when researching on the Internet). What a wonderful melody, paired in classic fashion with such simple, melancholy lyrics. Anyone who has ever lost a love (either through breakup or death-- which is most everyone) will surely relate to this song and be touched by it. When discussing my discovery of this song with my 79 year-old mother yesterday, she recalled it with great fondness and sadness. As she sang it, she broke down a bit as I knew she thought of my dad who passed away nearly 2 years ago. They'd been together for nearly 60 years and this song reminded us both of the depth of their lifelong devotion and companionship. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
A good memory | Reviewer: Samuel Frank | 1/13/05
This song brings back memories of the BBC comedy "Birds of a Feather" which I used to watch when I was younger. It reminds me of happier times, and the love you saw between the two sisters. It reminds me of how sacred some people really are to us, a great song that makes you think and can warm the heart, or sadden it.
