No song from any genre from any year from any decade from any century with ever ever ever top this song.

Harris has crafted with elegance and brilliance one of the best songs there is to hear in music.

wow what a song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/21/08

This one is such a great song. I just read the story about it and listening to the song really made me cry!!
My favourite from Dance of Death and among Maidens top songs!

PS: it is "unknown grave" in the second line.

Second Line of Lyrics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/23/08

Yea, i love this song, but the second line of the lyrics is wrong. If you listen closely its not "unknown grave", its actually "run array" I could be wrong, if this is what iron maiden had as the original lyrics, but thats just what it sounds like

Amazing, Truly Amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/22/08

What a powerful song. Has me speechless every time, and as a previous comment stated: "Not many songs speak the truth but this one hits the nail on the head".

Not only does in reflect on the bloodshed at Paschendale but the terror and slaughter of WWI.

Again, a song to be remembered.

Pure awesome song. You really don't appreciate it unless you also know the story behind paschendale, what happened historicaly i mean. truly an awesome song. few songs speak the truth, but this song just hits the nail right on the head, the lyrics just take maiden to another league. "Blood is falling like the rain
its crimson cloak unveils again
the sound of guns can't hide their shame
and so we die in Paschendale". truly a great song. it will definetly go down in history, much like the battle of which it speaks

Signing up for war? Mistake? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/3/08

One of my closest friends' brother is going to war, but he's signing himself up, I want to show him this song to change his mind, if most of your comments about young men not understanding the truth about war is true, then I hope this will work...

i first heard this song when a teacher played it during a history class to show how history is everywhere, even in music. after i heard it i went straight to the local CD store and bought it.
after listening to it countless times i let my grandfather, who was in WW2, listen to Paschendale. Not being a big fan of the metal scene or even loud music in general he wasnt veyr into it... at first. afetr he listened to it his first question was "how i do listen to it again?". he listened to it around 10 times and was crying the whole time.
This song is absolutley amazing and is by far the best Iron Maiden song ever.

Maiden stands alone | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/14/07

This song is outstanding. I don't think any of their other classics are as good as this one. They always told great historic tales, but this one has such depth of the message. "Home, far away, but the War, no chance to live again." What a sorrowful thought! I appreciate all that Maiden did to share the tale, but of course, to honor and respect those men that did their part for country (on both sides) regardless of the aims and efforts of corrupt politicians and leaders.

Isn't war always like that?! We must respect those who sacrifice life and living for so many they haven't even met.

This is an amazing song.. It really makes you think more about the war from a soldiers point of view.. Its great.. Well done.. Thankyou..

Perfect song. It shows the cruelity of the war from a point of soldier, not as in many films "a great hero who kills huge number of enemies". Heard it once: didn't like it; heard it twice: I found it quite interesting; heard it three times with lyrics opened: it really touched me.

I can't believe how much the machine gun did, with the mud, to get rid of so many people. the mud was so bad, tanks would get sucked into the ground, and those who made it would get mowed by machine guns. truly amazing song for such a tragic battle.

I dare you to listen to this song only once. I've heard it dozens of times and im only starting to understand the true depth and meaning of it. Many people interpret it as just a song about war. But Paschendale was just one battle and the lives of 2 million men. Great solo, great drumming, great singing, and I feel sorry for the people who just saw the cover and skipped the album. After writing a billion war songs, Maiden finally perfects it. There will never be another song like this one.

Why? | Reviewer: Peter Barjonas | 11/1/07

Paschendale was another atrocity.
Please, indeed, remember the "Lions led by donkeys"
And also the donkeys, eg Lord Earl Haig another establishment celebrated murderer.
Lest we forget.
