I've been involved in band members being kicked out of bands, and each line of these lyrics describe very well a situation not unlike everything I've heard about the turmoil that existed with Dirk and the rest of Incubus. And "sharing spit" is a term I've frequently heard people use instead of "sharing a joint" or "smoking some pot together" or something else of that variety. They went separate ways just before this album started to be written. All they ever said was 'creative differences in direction' etc. but pretty sure this song makes it clear! Drugs | Reviewer: Leo | 4/15/09 I believe that this could relate to drugs. I find it really relovant when Brandon sais "The ride's over. Did you enjoy yourself?" So fuck yourself, and fuck this bleeding heart of mine" Are the drugs talking. It gives you a sense of a substance having a brain and the ability to speak. The music also adds to this. The guitar is slightly erie almost in need of another fix. During the verses the Guitar and bass are perfectly placed in critical moments of almost comming down. During the chorus the becomes very upbeat as if your on your high and the drums add alot to that. The drums start the first half of the chorus with the floor tom and move to the ryde cymbol. 5 out of 5!
