The Reviews about The Moment I Said It (page 2/ 7)
------ performed by Imogen Heap

Shake the tears out of me... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/11/09

I was just listening to the song and I'm totally overwhelmed at the moment, since when the bridge part with the "I'm losing you" etc. part began it simply struck me down and grabbed me. I burst into tears and I sank down, crying like I haven't done for...for years probably. It litterally shook the tears out of me, and while she screamed "I've got a bad feeling" I felt close to collapsing...
These words fit so perfectly to what's going on between me and my boyfriend, he's so different now...I just can't recognize him. He says things I would never have expected to hear out of his mouth, and it scares me, "You're scaring me, you're scaring me, you're scaring me to death".
And "don't ohhh [smash] please" felt so much like all the things he said and that hurt so much that I firstly didn't feel it...until it smashes something within you which injures deeper layers of your self.
"You're gonna throw it all away
Without hesitation"
That's what finally struck me...I feel like he's going to throw me away, without thinking about it again. Just doing it, cutting off what he doesn't need or want any more...and that did hurt so much.

I know, it's not an interpretation, I mostly agree with all of you concerning the song's content...but I thought I'd share my own experienced emotions and ideas with you. It is really a masterpiece of pure emotion, and I must admit that it scares me a litte. There are songs in the world that might be able to kill me and I fear this one could be one of them. It hits the nail on the head and unfolds all his effect.

I don't know how she did this, but I really admire it.

Good Song | Reviewer: Brazill | 2/1/09

I actually used this song in a short film i made about a cop who goes to avenge his partners murder. I used the whole song for the final part in which he pretty much prepares to kill the murderer but he keeps seeing heis partners ghost who's warning him about going. All in all i love this song.

Bitter but beautiful | Reviewer: seventyx7 | 1/29/09

This song is obviously about an abusive relationship, that has finally snapped. I just wish I knew what the man was screaming in the background.

And for some odd reason this song reminds me of the movie White Noise. I guess because of the faded voices.

When i first listened to this song, I fell asleep before it came on, and woke up to the guy yelling, and it scared the crap out of me, because I wasn't even in my own home. I was in a college dorm. But the affect it gave me was astounding.

Relations | Reviewer: Mathias | 1/25/09

Well, as i'm pretty sure we all agree on, it's an incredible song. And as most of you, i'll also try to post a little thing about what i think is happening (oh cliché):
Definitely an argument between a couple (male and female, boyfriend and girlfriend I take it)
What exactly it is, I can't say, but it seems to me she's said something he has completely missunderstood - and is going beserk. I agree with whomever said that he isn't abusive, but violent in his behaviour at this point. Throwing around things at the "smash"-points.
Not sure he's drunk (he might be though) but at least he's furious, and she doesn't want him to leave when they're mad at each other because you never know what'll happen when you drive away in anger. It might be the last time you meet. (Yes, of course i've tried something like this myself, which is why it touches me a great deal)
But definitely at the last "Smash" the boyfriend who jumped in the car, experiences a car-crash.
It's somewhat scary that she can make something this ugly, so unbelievably beautiful.

Wow @ comments | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/19/09

The comments here says more about you people then the actual song, which is quite incredible. I think that would make this a song which pretty much touches everyone, good or bad.
That said I think it would make my comment quite interesting.

I had this idea for a homemade music video of this song, basically two girls (yes, two girls.) being in an arguement.. maybe the one girl is very depressed and the other one is trying to help her, then the depressed one goes all super depressed or something, and get the car keys, leaves, and ends up crashing at the last "smash" in the song. I see all the other smash'es in the songs as just kind of a build up thing to the actual point of the crash.

The way I see it, it got alot of meanings anyways, I see car crash, huge arguement, drunk boyfriend.. but never abusive.. Maybe violent, but not abusive over time kind of thing.

I showed this song to a friend of mine, she started to cry as she had experienced something like this only the day before. Basically her boyfriend was a bit drunk, and he wanted to leave.. so he took the car keys, she tried to stop him but ended up getting smashed into the wall.. then he ran out, she ran after him, she sat herself in the passenger seat of the car, and he just turned around.. grabbed her throat.. basically trying to choke her while saying "Do you want to die?".. pretty rough if you ask me.. anyways he sort of came to himself at that point and walked inside... she let him be by himself that night, she was massivly scared.

Brings Back Memories | Reviewer: Emma Simard | 1/8/09

I like a lot of her songs because they all relate to my life in a way. They clearly do this for other people as well, but with me I can relate every single line to something that happened in my life. To me it sounds like in this song there is a daughter trying to stop her mother, who suffers from a mental illness, from hurting the rest of her family, whether it be emotionally or physically. The smashes could be the smashing of pictures because she is so angry with the situation she is in.

Im losing you | Reviewer: Ashley | 12/28/08

A month after me and my boyfriend broke up i heard this song and it gave me chills and made me cry...this song explains EXACTLY how the night went when me and him ended it...our relationship wasnt going so well we were argueing ,i was going through a rough time and was depressed, and i wasnt happy. So i cheated on him with a guy that went to his school that i was friends with and so was my boyfriend. Then one night the guilt got to me and I told him. The song completely explains what happened. He was acting different, yelling at me,throwing things,he wanted to get in the car and leave, and i wanted him to stay and talk so we could work things out. He ended up leaving and i ended up losing him. Whenever I hear this song I get so many emotions like how much it hurt to lose him and it just brings back the memories of that night. Her voice is amazing though and this is such a beautiful song. I love it!

meaning? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/20/08

what I love about her songs is that there never seems to be one exact meaning to any of them.
which works because that way it can touch more people, and many other things. ^^
but I still do wish sometimes that all songwriters would just explain their songs... somewhere... and those of us who want spoilers could have 'em... -_-

Losing a loved one | Reviewer: M | 12/18/08

I love this song. I know someone choreographed a dance to it at my school and their interpretation had to do with lovers and one dies in a car crash i guess.

I think it could be a lot of things, I don't think a break up though because it sounds like they're trying to work something else out. I think it would be a scenario like someone died and she's trying to console him but he's drunk and just wants to get away, leaves and gets into an accident. Losing someone is devastating and alcohol is distorting so 'I'm losing you' may be some reference to not being able to help, to stop them, etc.

Just a thought

Wonderful Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/10/08

I don't really agree with the idea of it being an abusive boyfriend...she says in the song that "No I’ve never seen you like this," which means whatever is happening is a first. The "smashes" is definitely a reference to violence, but I thought it was more a throwing things around the house in general. It almost seems like a grief thing...my first thought was that she had a miscarriage, and had to tell the husband, or something equally terrible. Either way, it's a wonderful song.
