The majority of people i've spoken to, assume that it follows with the whole song in that the guy and girl still miss another and that he is regretting not being together. BUT i interpret it differently when i heard it. it sounds to me like the guy goes through the emotions of yeah "i still occasionally think about us and dream and wonder what it would be like if we were together...yada yada yada..." BUT the last line says it all..."why you calling me so late?" in the sense that SHE is late, their time is over, and he is happy now where he is, so sorry. Your thoughts?
