She has fun at what she does and that's what makes her so likeable. Her songs are fun, happy and bright. So what if they aren't totally deep and all emotional. That's what so cool. They're just fun to listen to. Hilary sings so differently from most singers and that's what is so awesome about her. Who cares if not all her lyrics have a lot of meaning? They are fun songs and she does these well. Her songs on Metamorphosis are fun and so are those on Hilary Duff. There are fun songs on Hilary Duff and some inspirational ones as well. She has a really different voice and that's cool. I have been disappointed that she lost weight but she is still a good role model. Does she take drugs? Do you see pictures of her getting drunk? Does she sleep around. No. She keeps her private life personal and that is a good thing. She doesn't swear a lot and she still wears fairly conservative clothes, her songs are clean and she doesn't do any scandolous roles in movies. Sure the roles may be more mature, but in a good way. As in Raise Your Voice... Hilary was not hospitalized because of not eating properly and it's her choice on what she wants to do. She will either learn but what she needs is support and that's what I hope her fans will give to her. And who cares if Wake Up is a girly song? Maybe that's why people like it. It's fun and if it's not your type of music, what that's fine but lots of people like it Maybe not everyone wants to listen to "real" music, if that's what you call rock and punk. Sure I listen to rock and punk, but why should we all have to listen to it? What defines rock and punk music as "real" music? Just because some people complain about their lives blah blah blah and what a horrible world it is, does that make it real music? Music is where someone sings what they want and it can be about all kinds of things. Just because her music is fun and happy, you don't call it real music? Hilary can sing whatever music is wants. Yeah her music, happy and fun... if that's what she wants to sing, then she can. Not Really Great | Reviewer: The Faded Rose | 3/11/06 I'm glad everyone has their opinion, but I do not believe that Hilary Duff should be a singer. She started off in the movie Casper Meets Windy which was a very appropriate seeing as she was just a little girl. That soon grew to Lizzie McGuire which was a fairly good show. She is an average actress, but not "amazing." Once Lizzie started fading, Hilary became a singer. Why? I'm not sure. I bought Hilary's first album "Metamorphosis" in high hopes that she was at least good. I liked "So Yesterday" "Come Clean" "Where Did I Go Right?" "The Math" "Metamorphosis" and the bonus track "Why Not". All of those songs had at least some good meaning in them and Hilary sounded halfway okay singing them, but the other songs I completely struggled through. If they did have meaning, it was her voice. Otherwise it was a mixture of no talent and meaningless lyrics. Once her self titled album came out, I decided to buy it just because I had heard "Fly" and thought "Oh wow, maybe she's gotten better." I was WRONG. I enjoyed "Fly" "Weird" "Hide Away" "Dangerous to Know" "I Am" and "Rock This World." The rest just made me want to cry. "Do You Want Me?" is probably the worst song EVER. It makes her seem like "Oh, I'm a spoiled brat, but I know I'm irresistible. I know you want me." BLAH BLAH BLAH. "Mr. James Dean", which was written by her and her sister, is also a really stupid song. First off, they probably don't even realize who James Dean is. Secondly, the song has no point. I could talk about the other songs, but just like in "Metamorphosis" the songs either didn't have meaning or her voice just stunk. Now onto another matter. Those of you who think she is a "role model" should seriously start paying attention to not only the news, but just pay attention to how she has changed. If you go back to her "Lizzie McGuire" days, you'd see that she was maybe a little bit bigger/heavier/whatever than average but not by much. Now that she's become a singer she has lost lots of weight. Notice how in the music video of "Beat of My Heart" you can easily see her cheek bones when she's not even smiling whereas in Lizzie McGuire she looked normal. On the news, she was actually hospitalized because she's not eating properly and has a serious weight problem. I'm not sure I want my role model to be someone who is more concerned about her weight than how she sounds. Just my opinion. Hope this helps at least someone.
