Absolutely the best | Reviewer: Darkshadownight | 3/18/07
Green Day have always always had brilliant, ingenious lyrics. But these ones are absolutely top-notch. After Misery(by Gd also of course DUH) they are my all-time favs. Billie Joe is a genius. He never writes a line without giving it a special meaning, that fits the rest of the lines perfectly. I think the best adjective to describe all Gd lyrics is worked-on thought-about etc. Billie Joe is a true poet.

jos frickin rocks man! green day has never made a song this good except mabe basket case. i like part 2 and 5 the best. i don't know how they make up really simple guitar chords and come up with a song this good! GO GREEN DAY!
pretty cool song | Reviewer: zero | 1/27/06
to tell you the truth I hate green day and all this kind of punk-rock bands and I've heard two of their albums and they both suck but this song in particular made me have respect for the band the guitar lines are almost perfect and the song has a feeling that I think no other green day song has, the rythm changes through all the song are perfecty times...man this song is awesome. The end is the best part if you ask me the "you are leaving" sounds pretty cool, once I played a three guitar version of this song and I added a improved solo at the end with a heavy distortion pedal and it was fucking awesome so this song has a lot of potential left so...bye mortals
A rock opera for Gen Y | Reviewer: Almost-40 Guy | 1/23/06
American Idiot the album, and this song in particular, is a rock opera along the lines of Pink Floyd's The Wall, The Who's Tommy, Styx' Paradise Theater, etc. Almost all of the songs on the album share themes and ideas, and no song does it better than Jesus of Suburbia. The song changes direction and tempo several times, without coming off as chopped up or disconnected. I'm not a huge fan of the overblown "the world sucks and hates me besides" themes in today's alt/punk/angst groups, but dammit if Green Day doesn't nail it on this album. One of my favorite albums ever, I won't be surprised if American Idiot attains the classic status of The Wall, eventually.

The best song I've ever heard. It's so real and clever...I like 'Tales From Another Broken Home' the most. That reminds of someone I know... Really Really love this song! Oh and I like the guy from the video ;-).
And Billie Joe, of course lol.
