First off, I want everyone to know that I am tired of all of this arguing. I sat here for about 10 minutes reading the comments and I am tired of hypocritical people yelling at someone for yelling at someone else. Does it seem like I am just as hypocritical for yelling at all of you? Hell yea! But I am ok with that because it sounds like, from many of you, that I have already been labeled as an “American Idiot”. The song is good. But I think that people are taking it way, way, way too seriously. Yes there are many idiots in America. But so are there in any country. I don’t want anyone to be insulted by what I am saying, but it needs to be said. I am an American. Am I proud of being one, hell yea. Am I proud of what America has been doing lately, hell no. But it is not the fault of the Americans. The elections were not always right. Bush won one of them by a technicality. More people voted for his opponent than him, but because of the electoral system, he won. Most of us didn’t want him, but he got it anyway. After that, he, like every other president, chose his buddies to work on his cabinet. The war was his choice. The way it works is that any citizen can submit some thing to the government. Say that I had an idea on how to end the war. I give it to my state representatives. The idea works its way up the latter, permitted that the majorities agree with me. Its last stop is the president’s office. There, the president has the power to say “yes” or “no”. Even if the majority of the people agree with me, with one word, “no”, the president can make the whole thing goes away. I hate that we are in a war with Iraq. I have questioned, time and time again, why we are in a war with Iraq when it was people from Afghanistan who attacked us. I have also wondered, time and time again, why the people were lied to about nuclear weapons in Iraq. I know that it has probably been a pain reading all of this and if you are still reading thank you for reading. I just have one final note and then I will shut up. Please don’t judge all Americans by a few actions or even just one song. Just because someone from Australia made a game about a school shooting doesn’t mean I have labeled all of them as disgruntled lunatics (Loved the game by the way, it was good to show that everything should be able to be made fun of, not just some things). Every country has flaws, but you don’t need to blame innocent people for them. So don’t judge all Americans by the actions of a few. I know some people from England and they love America. You can ask them and they would tell you that there are tons of good, sincere people here. So please, if you don’t like what I have said, yell at me and not everyone else. And if you don’t like something in America, yell at the one who caused it and not everyone who lives near it. I'm an American myself, am I proud to be one, I wouldn't really say that, but I do support our soldiers, it's not their fault they are forced to head out to Iraq and be killed, I support them for the soldiers themselves and their families. America is one fucked up country no doubt about it, but compared to some countries in say Africa or the Middle East we're not so bad. I do on the other hand think it's completely rediculous how all we get on the news is more shit about Celebs. and Sports. (Not meaning to pick on Africa) But I just watched a television special on the diamond wars in Seirra Leone. It was terrible bloody and unholy stuff, but I had never heard about it before, and I was actually mad at myself and the media for being so kept in the dark. This happed like ten years ago, and yet practically no one knew anything about it, because our media is so goddamn censored and doesn't give a fuck about some real world issues. You flip to the world news you get shit about a pro football player being injured or about Britiany Spear's latest breakdown, I don't give a fuck about some dumb shit blonde who's a complete has-been singer. That's the main thing I despise about America, our media, and all that comes through in this song. Another thing I'm sick of is how goddamn politically correct everyone has to be these days. There's always gonna be racism, there's always gonna be predjudice, that's not gonna change, deal with it. Like the fact that people shouldn't say "Merry Christmas" anymore, What-The-Fuck? So what if you celebrate another religeon, I'm an athiest myself, but am I gonna freak on someone who wishes me a Merry Christmas, no! I'll wish them one back and go about my day, so I don't believe in Christianity, why the fuck would I make a huge scene about it. People need to chill the fuck out, get a little more backbone instead of being offended all the fricken time, and this goes for everyone in the world. And on a side note, not all Americans are dicks. Some of you saying that American's think they're better than everyone else and that we just want to make all these other countries look bad. I don't think I'm better than anyone, and if your country has it's own problems don't whine about how terrible America is, fix them yourselves. We have plenty of problems too. American Idiot is a genius song, it points out our worst flaws in an awesome way, a kickass song. About Green Day itself: People who hate Green Day now can kiss my ass, just cause they turned "emo" when really they're as far from it as it gets, just cause they dress darker now and throw on some eyeliner does NOT mean they are emo, or gay for that matter, as many may think. I mean yes, that can show at times, but even if they were, who cares? They all have girlfriends, even wives and kids, not to mention all the songs Billie Joe has written about girls, so please spare me those excuses.
