Calling out to idiot America. | Reviewer: Loz | 9/9/07
I'm Australian and everytime I hear this song I just want to thank Green Day for speaking their minds against one of the most (if not THE most) powerful nations and governments in the world. Does George Bush wake up every morning and think 'hmmm which country am I going to screw over today??' or does he just pick a name out of his hat? America has to take responsibilty to what has been happening (well most of it anyway) and try to think ratioanlly for once. Good on u Green Day for using freedom of speech to get the message across.

The song is a musical void. Who cares about the lyrics. Where's the music? Where're the 7b9+11b13's? They claim to be outside the norm, but there's nothing new here.

This is an excellent song and Green Day is one of the dozens if not hundreds of artists stating their mind. The entire new Linkin Park album is based around the U.S. and the corperate elite (Minutes to Midnight). I got to go purchase this album now to show my support. I hope everyone can get involved in a local activist group take care!!!

Punk and Politics | Reviewer: Scott Patzner | 8/9/07
Maybe some of you don't understand, but part of the sole definition of punk music is to create music with a political (or other such meaningful ) message. Punk music was created to get messages across to other despite the fact that it had degenerated to a simple genre of music, unfortunately

Alright. For everyone who is bothered/angered/let down by Green Day writing more political songs...just get over it. As celebrities, they have the duty to be aware of world events and to broadcast their opinions, to whatever leaning, about those events. While every 'regular' person also has such a responsibility to speak up about things that matter, bands, actors, artists, and other celebrities have the power to reach so many people, and in ways more moving and powerful than any politician could get across. If celebrities don't get America's attention about war, poverty, our ridiculously corrupt government...who can?!
RE: American Idiot: Anthem for American Idiots | Reviewer: shane | 7/20/07
hey man, why did you have to go and write all that, the thing in that rant that caught my eye though, was when he said that, "the subliminal mind fucked america" was the subliminal mind performing sexual acts against america and americans, what it was probably meant to mean, was that the subliminal mind screwed america over, which is true, the news shows us all the bad and horrible things that go on in Iraq (aka the unjust war that was started over a lie), I have met some soldiers that came back from Iraq, they said that all that happened about 10% oh the time, and the other 90% ofthe time, they were enjoying themselves WITH THE IRAQI NATIVES. So, before you right anything else, search all the facts before you go on such a random rant, and my view of the war, it is the most unjust war ever, we have no motive over there, Saddam Huissen never had weapons of mass destruction, and didn't have the technology to build them, or even the technology to launch them, we killed thousands, and lost thousands, INCLUDING THEIR LEADER, just because Bush wanted to go to war with a country for no reason at all.
