It is the work of a genius writer, who can only express himself in the limited ways available when the target market for such a band are children. Even for Blur that would have been too much. I am in awe at the genius of Damon Albarn, I'm glad to see that he writes what must be written, no matter what. Certainly one of his best songs. I don't think it was meant to be understood at all, and the result is perfect. There is no need to decipher the words in this case, it should mean whatever anyone makes of it.

I really think its about withdrawing from drugs, possibly heroin? Every night at 4 am he wish he wasn't, possible wants to die, he is shitting like no other. And the dam is blocking him and its just the same old mile over and over.
And the last phrase is at 4 am he's gotta take care of himself, possible try to handle this addiction the real way? And if not (which is most likely the case) he is going for the real shot (of dope)
He gets the shot and its like WOOH!

I'm unable to fully understand these lyrics, but it is a good song, very good.
To me it seems likes it is about drug dealing and getting shot with a needle ar 4 o'clock, but I'm pretty sure the Gorillaz are Anti-Drug....
I'm unable to translate these lyrics. It may be about having done drugs before and getting in trouble? I haven't a clue, can somebody try to shed light on the lyrics?
