It's a song about taking drugs for the first time. It should be rather obvious. Plus, the video sorta makes it seem like they are on drugs. (Plus, at the end of the video Murdoc has a dream where he's in bed with the head in the closet. One word: DRUGS.)

I love this song to pieces! Makes you want to get up and dance! Gorillaz is an awesome band :)
But I'm getting tired of coming to this page and seeing the obvious mistake in the lyrics. People keep changing it back! The lyrics are actually "It's there" not "It's dare" the only reason it's called Dare is the fact that Shaun Ryder's voice makes it sound like he's saying "It's dare"
D.A.R.E. (?) | Reviewer: sophie | 9/13/09
haha, i totally agree with you, i was starting to think that there weren't any thinking minds in this web page hahaha....
ok, so, the first time i red the lyrics i obviously thought it was about sex... but what i don't understand is the connection between the video clip and the song. anyway, what's that D.A.R.E. thing all about?

What the heck? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/2/09
I was watching the video for the song, and I didn't get it: What the heck was a singing head doing in Noodle's closet? What the heck was the reason behind 2-D shoving his face on the floor? And what the heck did they end it with Murdoc waking up???
Clublanders will know... | Reviewer: SyCo | 8/28/08
I think this song is totally about X. "I'm comming up" drug [arlance for the drug effect hitting, th=d so "it's dare" is really "it's there", the drug has hit. Anyone who ever took pills back in the day knows that feeling. "Hold it down, Dare (there)" is reference to not losing control of the feeling. It's a song about coming up in a club and feeling free to be yourself.
its tight | Reviewer: Ninja08 | 8/16/08
i think that the song is the best song that the gorrilaz have made its not some regular song like a dance theme thing screw the ppl who think its about that other crap. Y would the gorrilaz do that anyway
Utterly brilliant!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/11/08
It is just a fucking fantastic record. Utterly brilliant. Damon Albarn is a songwriting genius, but what do you expect from someone born on March 23rd.
When do you reckon my birthday is then? lol.
Good fun | Reviewer: OscarOrtiz.Com | 4/3/08
This song is like a painting: open to interpretation. What do I get out of it? I think the lyric is just an excuse for an excellent arrangement. The phrases are just brush strokes to keep the piece together. Obviously they were having a lot of fun while creating it and that's exactly the feeling it transmits. There's nothing perverted or twisted in it but what your mind wants to invent.

have you even read the lyrics? it has nothing that makes you think the song is about having sex straight away... even those other ppl.. they only have an inkling... they are 100% sure... i dont know who told ur friend that but get them to read the lyrics and they have in their Ipod in a week
