"I figure that this song is about excaping the horrors of life by using drugs.
"I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine in a bag"
The sunshine is some drug."
Let me guess, you have very little or no experience with the use of what you refer to as "Drugs". There are plethora of drugs out there from soda, antidepressants, and ice cream to crack, lsd, and ecstasy and everything in between, substances that produce drastically different mental or physical effects. I personally think it is ether very naïve or ignorant to clump all drugs in to one category. Whether you or your culture views them as drugs, or accepts their use is irrelevant.

its really dissapointing how ignorant people really are...
its definity A Spiritual Song
speaking truth about mans shortcomings, acknowledgement of a higher power & Of things to come. instead of racking your little brain about what kinda sunshine is in the bag...you could be asking yourself who " Russ" Is?? hahahahaha
you will never understand these lyrics untill you seek truth...and yes, its all in your head...and more real than you can comprehend.(wink)

I don't know. it can be drug. but not necesserely. it is more the feeling, something archetypal. doesn't reallz matter whether its origin is a drug, something spiritual, or whatever....

Of course the "sunshine" is a drug...it doesn't take a psychology degree to figure that one out!
At any rate, the song is more than just a pothead's daydream. If you pay attention to the lyrics in the rap then you would know there's a lot more to it, provided you are in the right frame of mind and you allow yourself to see it for what it is...it's what some people would call a HELLO from the spirit realm. I have to admit many of their songs have some kind of mystic connection, not only in the lyrics, but also by producing sound combinations that "play" with the psychic attention of people.
