------ performed by George Jones

My Dad... | Reviewer: Mike | 11/5/09

My dad's health started failing on the 3 month anniversary of my mother's passing away..no medicine on earth could heal his broken heart..I won't say Dad stopped loving Mom on October 31 '09..but he did leave us so he could be with her until eternity comes. Thank you George Jones for one of the greatest love songs of all time.

It always makes me sad. | Reviewer: Irish | 10/28/09

In 1962, my boyfriend was an engineer on a tanker on the high seas, and I wrote to him every day, I was 17, he was 21. Then his father (an alcoholic) died, as and my lad came home, and didn't go back to sea again, we married that autumn, and had 6 children over the years, but the alcoholism that had plagued his family also overcame him, and he became a totally different man Eventually I lost all respect for him, and after 17 years, I couldn't take any more, and with 6 children to look after, we split up, and eventually got divorced. After that, he did "go half crazy now and then"
In time I found someone else, and remarried, but 20 years later, at one of our daughters weddings, my ex declared that he still loved me. He had become a sad figure by then and died some time later. I did go to see him one last time. I know he kept those letters from his time at sea in 1962, and regretted what he had lost through his drinking. I always think of him when I hear this song, and wonder what could have been otherwise. Life can be very sad. Irish.

I Know The Feeling | Reviewer: Rick | 10/28/09

I have found my high school sweetheart after 33 years. We are both married and sharing what we've been doing through the years. I know without a doubt she is the only one I ever loved, and I will until I die too. I always related to this song, I've seen George Jones sing it in person twice. This is good classic country music at its best. I know the feeling!!

I left these lyrics for my wife today | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/8/09

I left these lyrics for my wife to read on the windshield of her car today. She has left me and taken the stepdaughter I love with her. I don't desrve this or the pain I have felt for the past 4 months. I want her to know both that I'll love her until the day I die and that she's hurting me terribly. I have now joined the ranks of the Prozac nation. I never thought it possible for me to be so sad that I can't cope without medication.

He Stopped Loving Her Today | Reviewer: nancy ann | 9/26/09

I love this song! I also have a story that makes me identify with this song. I have been in love with this man since I met him in 1984. We broke up and I moved away eight years ago. I was surprised that he found me, and we have started seeing each other again recently. I think that we will both love each other till the day we die!

Not all bad | Reviewer: jim | 9/7/09

This song has always reminded me of my dad. He loved his first love until the day he died. The last few words out of his mouth were, "I love you, Ginny". The only twist is that she loved him back for over 60 years. This is one of my favorite songs when we all go out and sing Kareoke because I get another chance to say goodbye to dear old, hopeless romantic, Dad.
Kudos to him. He raised 8 sons who are all hopeless romantics and still loving their first loves til they die.
Thanks for the memories, George.

I'm the woman in the song | Reviewer: A Southern girl | 9/1/09

I have always loved this song but it now breaks my heart to hear it. My story is a little different from the song but it ties is to what is currently occuring in my life. Through the years me and my high school sweetheart have tried to make things work but his alcoholism always got in the way. We recently tried once again but as always it did not work. Although he had many problems this past weekend he let the bottle get the best of him. He got drunk and shot himself. I never meant to hurt him, would have done anything to save him but I could not live with the drinking. I will always love him, be haunted by the past and yes I will go to see him one last time.

Like any great song... | Reviewer: Bobaloo | 7/22/09

this one captures a feeling. It's up to the listener to decide what that feeling really means. He loved her until the day he died. That's how true love is. Real love isn't a bunch of fluff. It takes strength and courage.
I think maybe some women would hear this song and decide not to wait to long to return the love of a strong man.
But yes, it's a heartbreak that in this case he went to his grave with his love unreturned.

Missing the Point | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/15/09

You all have missed the point of the song. Yes he loved her and yes he died loving her. However the message in the song is it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. I know the pain of losing someone but let me tell you pain only hurts for a little while. You will always have a piece of that special someone in your heart, but you'll find someone else that will love, and respect and cherish you just as much as you do them. I promise.

Missing Dona | Reviewer: G.A.L. | 6/12/09

I love this song. It has been a fear of mine, for years. I had the best woman a man could ever want and I blew it. See, I loved her so much and my biggest fear was she would leave me one day, and I wouldn't be able to withstand the pain of losing her. So I did stupid things, like mistreat her and hurt her. Anything to keep up the tough image, so as not to let my heart get hurt like that. Now my biggest fear has come true, and she has left our home. She was the heart and soul of me, and also of our home. Everyone that knows her loves her, but nobody will ever love her like I do. I just want her to come back home. I told her about this song years ago, and of my fear that it would be us. Now I'm afraid my biggest fear has come true.
