From what I've gleamed, it's a song about a guy who sees a girl (or perhaps vice-versa) alone at a bar or similar location. He sees her, and tries to hit on her but she doesn't give. The song is about his knowledge of the futility of asking out a girl who is out of his league. NOW, the song uses "shooting" as a METAPHOR to describe this scenario. At any time she could just leave (shoot him, and leave him to "die"). He asks her to "take him out" which is essentially a pun. Either take him out (to another bar or her place or something) or take him out (as in just end it, by ditching him instead of playing around with him).
