Purpose of the Song | Reviewer: TJhookah | 6/26/07
The purpose of the song is describing one of the band's friend got so drunk and ended up dancing with a man.

Opinion | Reviewer: Dana | 6/18/07
Personally, I didn't like this song very much. The music is repetitive and rather dull and the lyrics - more than rather superficial. My not liking it has nothing to do with homosexuals or something like that, so don't try bashing me about it. Also, about the Damien/Anonymous collision, it's not right to attack anyone for having a different - if backward - view on this song (that's part of the point of the Internet). Let people write what they want - meaning Damien and, coincidentally, Franz Ferdinand ;-)
This is not one of their better songs, thank God.

Not to mention that everyone - and I mean everyone - has some sort of prejudice, so don't go judging Damien too quickly. Think about it - gays, blacks, jews, Arabian people, Israeli people... People who dress different, who give off a disconcerting vibe, basically any stranger on the street... Practically everyone is prejudiced against one of the groups I listed...
Lol, seriously? | Reviewer: Dayum | 6/7/07
I love how these comments steered away from the actual song itself (whis is gorgeous, by-the-by).
But, I must flow with the moajority on this one. Love is love, and you should take love as it comes; regardless of gender. I myself, being omnisexual, can honestly say that if you give something like love obscurity- it'll be harder in the long run.
Um, but anyways, let's just try to all get along, and enjoy the blissful melodies of Franz Ferdinand, 'kay? :D
ha. | Reviewer: Darion | 6/5/07
I love this song. It shows their humourous side.
Damian - screw you up the ass with something hard and sand-paper-y. :3
I'm only here for research. G'day.
gay woohoo...?!? who cares. | Reviewer: cat | 6/3/07
this song is great. i heard they wrote it for a close gay friend of theirs... michael (which doesn't necessarily mean they're gay - but who gives a rats ass?!)
Franz Ferdinand is amazing. I met them in a club in Croatia after their concert.
they are fucking hot.
Michael | Reviewer: Derek | 5/16/07
Isn't this song satire on Michael Jackson? I swore I read it in some magazine that it is supposed to be about him, hence all the references to little boys.
How you can call a band gay when they are making fun of someone for having relationships with boys is beyond me. That's like calling someone gay for calling someone gay, it just doesn't make sense.
Who cares about the homo lyrics? | Reviewer: ih8barney | 4/28/07
It doesn't matter what 'Micheal' is about. When it comes right down to it, it's a good piece of music. It's catchy, and playful, and has a memorable hook. Sure, it has blindingly obvious homosexual tones, but it's music! Music is art! And art sends it's own messages! Why can't you just sit back and enjoy the whole thing instead of acting like a bunch of freaks?

RE: Damian
"This song=Gay"?
Well, you=homophobic scum.
Beatles-esque? What are you, 16? It's probably the most overused musical term ever. Most rock bands have similar traits. The Beatles didn't invent their sound entirely. They were influenced, the way any band is. FF included.
And please, what is so bad about retro being remade in year 2000? Franz Ferdinand have a sound of their own. Cut the sexist crap. You don't have to love Franz Ferdinand. Hell, I'm not even asking you to like them. But for you to base a band or a song on it's homosexuality is wrong.
