grrr... | Reviewer: viva arizona | 3/7/07

come on, does it really matter if they're gay or not? (by the way, a band connot be GAY, someone can, not a band... :S)
and even, if they are... what the heck does it matter?!

*Damian darling, you're an asshole...

*and Bow Kitty, you are a dork... "I love gay people!" ? you sound like one of the wannabe-open-minded blokes... I'm sure you don't say "I love people who love blonde girls!"...

well my work here is done. The song, by the way, is ultra-super-gorgeous...

BLAH | Reviewer: Victoria | 2/7/07

Seriously, certain people shouldn't be so childish about a gay song... and so what if he was bi, anyways? It doesn't matter. It's just a song, and Damian, if we wanted to listen to the Beatles or whatever than we would be. ^_^

GAY! | Reviewer: Jason | 1/30/07

Damian is right. The song is gay, just like the band, and he's brave for saying it, considering your homophobe-bashing attitudes! You guys just don't want to admit that your heroes are flawed.

Quote: "The group has gay friends and wrote a song about the two of them dancing after they went out with them one night" - if you believe that, you'll believe anything. The truth is, Alex Kapranos got drunk after a gig and had a gay encounter. This whole "gay friend" story is a cover up along the lines of 'I have a "friend" who thinks he might be gay, what should I tell him?'.

I understand you guys don't want to think of one of your favourite bands as gay, but it is precisely your denial reactions that prompted the band to come up with the "gay friend" story. You need to read between the lines. In this post-Freddie Mercury world, the band can't afford to alienate their female (and male)fans if they come out overtly, so they have semi come out with the get out clause that it's about a "friend".

Look, even the phrase "take me out" is a gay euphemism for "take me up..."

I concede the band has indeed written a song called "Jaqueline", and likewise David Bowie wrote a song called "The Jean Jeanie", which is actually about Jean Genet, a gay French writer.

Open your eyes, people!

Love the Song! | Reviewer: Bow Kitty | 9/22/06

Hello there! I see we have a lot of controversy about the song Michael by Franz Ferdinand (which i LOVE, btw). Now to the "Damian" guy who's bashing the crap out of it just because of its gay overtones, i say wake up! your in the year 2006! It's quite common for people to be gay (or bi)! And if you haven't questioned your sexuality at least once, then i'd think you been brainwashed by a religon of some sort.
Me, personally, while i'm pretty sure i'm straight, i love gay people! (My 2 best friends are bisexual) They are super nice and very fun to hang around. Don't dis them just because of their feelings for people of the same gender.
Anyway, i was looking up the lyrics to this song in hopes to write a Gravitation (ShuichixYuki)(anime) song-fict on fanfiction.net! I hope this works out. I would love it if people would leave a review for me and say that they read my Michael review on the lyrics sight. (you can look for me on Fanfiction.net under The Bow and Arrow Sisters). Rock out.
Love ya all,
Bow of the Bow and Arrow Sisters

Gay? NOT | Reviewer: Celeste | 4/23/06

I have to agree with whoever it was that said that this song was written as a joke, precisely to point out that they're perfectly cool with homosexuality. Good song, and good to see that even though they're absolutely straight, they're comfortable with the fact that so many people aren't.

[I pity you Damian. Homophobia is viewed as a very low way to feel about people today, and it's not getting you anywhere. You know, people won't *stop* being gay just because there's a few of you that want them to. It's time you open your mind and realize that we're living in times so different from what you'd like, and, come on man...deal with it!]

I saw them live a couple months ago...I love them ^^!!

FF are great! | Reviewer: Bronwyn | 3/11/06

Anyone on the same page as Damian are hereby banished back to the 50's, where they belong with their gay hating garbage, this is the new millenium and if you have a problem with whats okay now then your living in the past. Damian, you may think that you have the right answer but the majority thinks that your an attention-seeking, homo-phobic, creep. But if you really hate FF that much don't waste your time trying to write empty insults about their music, this goes for anyone else who thinks that this song sucks, because it doesn't! And note to the 'this sond makes me feel happy', well me too!:)
Verdict: I sentence Damian to attend Toronto's gay pride parade ;)

I blew him | Reviewer: enuspride | 3/1/06

And there's another gay reference in their song Do You Want To ... "I blew him before you"!! Next we'll be seeing them perform at the Sydney Gay Mardi Gras Concert! hehe

It's 2006. Get over it. | Reviewer: enuspride | 2/27/06

FF are great and the song is great. It seems the guys are pretty straight. But what the hell would it matter if they weren't, or if the song is about same-sex attraction? Isn't it about time we got over such trivialities? I bow to their musicianship and their boldness.

ROFL | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/16/05

Quote from Damian:
"...listen to music actually made in the 60s or 70s or 80s and not this GAY SHIT pumped out by Scottish HOMO-SEXUALS."

Damian, it's not healthy to use your entire vocabulary in one sentence.

This song strikes me as a humorous gesture by a bunch of teenage Scottish boys, and not, as some of you have come to believe, a strong whiff of the lead singer's homosexuality. If you'd just look at the lyrics to their other songs - or even the titles - you'd see they're straight. "Tell Her Tonight", "Jacqueline", "Auf Achse", and even "Take Me Out" all show that this song was just a joke.

So tell me, Damian, how many guys do you know who are named "Jacqueline"?
