It's funny how we always relate songs to our personal situations. It is an amazing song, and I think Dave did write from the heart with this one, once again the foo fighters prove how awesome they really are!

What? | Reviewer: Thom | 2/4/08
I'm surprised no one has realized what Dave is singing this song about. If you see him live he will say "This song is for my sister." It's about how his sister is always moving onto another boyfriend and he has to "start again somewhere new" and that he worries that someone is getting the best of her. Any guy who has a sister or any female family member you care about can relate to this song, and it's a great tune, you can make it be about whatever you want it to be about but thats why Dave wrote it.
Can't get it out of my head | Reviewer: Sophia | 2/7/08
I am going through a tough realization about a relationship that I thought was based on love and support and realized that I have been blind to infidelity and lies. I stood by someone while they were going through many tough times and this is how I am repaid. So my interpretation is that someone got the best of me, in the sense that they got one over on me. I have a lot of best left, fortunately. I do feel like a fool, but I believe that this guy will come back for me when he is done with the new one. He thinks I will always be around. So the line were you born to resist or be abused resonates with me at this time in my life. Not sure if this is the original meaning of the song, but that is how I am interpreting it. It keeps me going. Thank you for writing it!
Powerful Song... | Reviewer: EdmondDantes | 1/27/08
I dug this song up again recently on Yahoo music. The live version really shows Dave's anger and frustration towards this woman. I wonder who it was.....
I love the line "I needed somewhere to hang my head Without your noose" That is so very true.....

I think different songs have different meanings to people and can help you through some tough times, music is powerful.
I've just left a bad relationship and he loves to rub it in my face that he regrets how he treated me but with his next girlfriend who is lined up that he's learnt his lesson and things will change. I think that is sort of what dave is trying to say...why couldn't you give me the best instead of hurting me and me having to start over again when i gave you everything i had and opened my heart upto you. But the song has a positive vibe to it because every bad thing that happens only makes you stronger and you can't let it break you.

representation | Reviewer: wide awoken | 1/17/08
I was reading through "once again used"'s review. I found myself in somewhat the same situation. Got fooled to keep my trust in this person and fell for with the hope to see some warmth.....repeatedly. Took 3 years to keep my head straight. This song touches deeply and I have the same questions for that particular person. A very powerful song. Indeed.....

i have a confession to make i love a friend am i, i never told her and she doesnt know and i thik i wouldnt do anything just cause im little complicated i dont want to lose her anyway you can never know who's thinking the best of you but you can think the best of who you love.
on LIVE EARTH, dave said this sONG is for some one you know, i think he was talking about kurt.
some people think that some songs are just songs but i say its someone's life.

A tribute | Reviewer: Inflatable Anchor | 1/13/08
I think this song is for Kurt. Before the end, fans were smothering him, he couldn't go anywhere privatly, he said he hated how he always had to be hidden away in his appartment from it all. He took Heroin to rid of the tension because every one had taken his faith, and it got the best of him. He gave in and committed suicide. If you read Dave's lyrics with this in mind, it all makes sense, even though there can be plenty of sonarios. Kurt also quoted that he wished he had payed more attention in his music classes, so he could be more prepaired for the hit
Easier | Reviewer: Jose | 12/30/07
I think it's easier than we think.
He can't stand the fact of thinking about other guy
taking the best of someone he really loved and loves,
He also refuses to give up.
This song makes you think a lot.
