I'm livin it, and I think that they are totally spot on. "Is some one gettin the best of you?"...because "I'm" not. Who's the best going to? I hate to keep puttin out this effort, when it's only answered enough to keep me hangin on, I also think "he" knows "he's" not gettin the whole truth... but just can't quit. But that's the beauty of music...it fits us all in our own way!! for however it plys a role in our own lives. After he says "I'm your fool", he realizes that he can't do anything but being in love with a cruel girl that treats him bad. So he asks himself "were we born to resist or be abused? He's admiting to her he has grown to love her, even though he knows she may not be ready to hear it, or maybe he fears she may think his feelings are more "in the moment" instead of love, as she slowly separates herself from him. He's confessing he has had a rough go at it in the past, but he's ready to dive in again. It sounds like as she drifts away, he is wondering if it's lack of feelings towards him, or maybe she's gun shy as a result of past relationships. "Were you born to resist or be abused?" She's telling him she wanted no strings attached fun, nothing serious, and she began to feel for him, too. This made her nervous and reluctant to enter a relationship. Scared of her own goal of staying away from the flame, coupled with not trusting herself in not hurting him causes her to instinctively stear clear, thinking it would be better for both parties. This makes him worry that her reluctance is due to another guy. It becomes a battle inside of him trying to distuingish if she's trustworthy, if she's that battered from the past, if she is falling for him or if she's on the slide. He feels a sense of urgency and begins to shout for answers that she's not ready to give, questions she may not know the answers to. With his heart on the line again, he confesses that he doesn't want to start over again. He's found the one he's been looking for and he's not giving up on her. He refuses to because he knows his feelings to be true. I love the last shout at the end. It really sums up my feelings at this time as well.
