The Reviews about I Don't Care (page 2/ 3)
------ performed by Fall Out Boy

Whut iz ze prumblem? | Reviewer: Sanctuarii | 1/28/09

Okay, guys. Read it with me.

"I don't care what you think unless it is about me."
"I don't care what you think just as long as it's about me."

This is only, what, ONE LINE from two songs? It is the whole song? No. Did FOB rip the whole beat? No. Did FOB rip ANYTHING ELSE from Drain You? As far as I can tell, no. So, what's the problem here?

"it's not exact but close enuff" isn't plagarism, which is what you guys are assuming. If it was, I think someone in the legal business would know this by now and sue someone's *** in the process. Maybe it was an influence, maybe it's a subliminal message saying "NIRVANA PLZ", who knows? FOB does, maybe. All I know is one thing:

This song is awesome. Stop bashing because of three simple words. Let the bands battle, not the fans. Because if the fans do, then it'll be a bloody mess(No british pun there).

Fallout boy steals lyrics | Reviewer: Shawn | 1/20/09

First off, I didn't like Fallout Boy to begin with but now I hate them. They know they jacked Nirvana's lyrics. Yeah it's not VERBATUM, but the same exact thing. Kurt isn't around to defend his lyrics so keep your dirty horrible-music making hands off!

... why dont people listen | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/4/09

A. the words AREN'T exactly the same? so they don't need to give them credit. they are similar but the difference changes the meaning of the sentence entirely.
so that kind of dismisses a lot of teh arguments here.

You're kidding right? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/4/09

So, because of one line, that, if you had a brain, they are TOTALLY different sentences AND meanings, Fall Out Boy is copying Nirvana?... Not to mention in this song it's the chorus, and in Nirvana it's a line in the first verse.
Think before you post something people, and always keep in mind, good artists are unique, great artists copy. Even if they got the idea of the song, or the words from Nirvana, they are not "copying" them. Get real... [I'm a fan of both bands.]

Nirvana rocks but i think there are distinctions | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/25/08

even thought its similar it has different meaning like it has been stated before and besides is it really that bad to be inspired by a band as great as nirvana? besides many other bands do similar things like this its not ripping off its being inspired and if every single song-line wasnt recycled every once in a while there wouldnt be any left so just stop giving them a hard time for it

Proper Quotation | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/25/08

If you are going to cite a band as a major influence you need to do justice if you plan to use their lyrics. I was in a band for a long time that played music very similar to Nirvana's, but we didn't use Kurt's words. There was no tribute or nod to Nirvana's earlier song as there was in Blink 182's Adam's Song when they quoted Come As You Are. If you're going to use their exact words, you need to give them credit; especially when you've made it known that you are familiar with the source material.

thanks hattie!!! | Reviewer: Mandee | 11/17/08

i don't understand why people can't read lyrics. it's so simple. i'm a huge nirvana fan and a huge fall out boy fan and what hattie said was the differene is the truth. so read the lyrics closer next time ppl. thanks!!!

Totallya gree | Reviewer: Kat | 11/5/08

When I heard the main lyrics, I thought 'Drain You' straight away. Thought the song doesn't sound like 'Drain You' that main line was definitely taken from 'Drain You'. They readily cite Nirvana as an influence.

a possibility ; | Reviewer: hattie | 11/4/08

heyy, fan of nirvana here too but have to say i can't agree. yes the words ARE very similar but the meaning, completely different. saying "i dont care what you think unless it is about me" states that initially he doesnt care but when the talk is about him then it matters. while fallout boy is saying "i dont care what you think as long as its about me" is like saying go ahead talk your s*it & while you do i'm gonna sit back with a glass of wine & drink in the attention. the point of the song, in my opinion anyway, is that its a way of them rolling off the critics reviews & just letting everyone know they're gonna go on keep doing their thing & whether you like it or not, well thats your problem. so yes the words pretty much the same but its a totally different message so maybe instead of thinking they are ripping off nirvana i'm thinking the used the song 'drain you' as inspiration.

I saw that too | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/2/08

When I heard this song and I was wondering why it sounded so familar. I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner because I LOVE the song "Drain You" so I totally agree that they're ripping off from Nirvana's lyrics. It's not exact... but close enough.
