My last day of high school is tomorrow and listening to this song gives me so many mixed emotions thinking back on everything that happened in the past 4 years. I can't believe I'm leaving behind so many friends and memories, it's so sad. I guess everyone must move on eventually.

I can directly relate to this song, though most people who read this probably won't care about it. You see, I recently joined the military, and the night before I shipped off to boot camp, I saw the girl I've loved. Granted I couldn't tell her since I don't have the testicular fortitude, but I still could kinda feel this song playing a loop in the back of my head.
And now, I raise a toast to all those like me. To everybody currently not with the ones they love, but still attached by an unbreakable bond.

Personally, I think the song is about two people after a relationship has ended who still has feelings for eachother spending one last night together. The feeling of wanting to stay but knowing that you won't or rather can't. Perhaps I'm reading to much into this lol but I feel there are way too many feelings involved for this to just be a simple one night stand. I've had one night stands. I don't cry because they've left lol. We both knew what it was and said our goodbyes happily the next morning lol. In this song there is too much of a want, in both parties, for them to stay. The deep feelings exhibited by each character in the song does not normally develop for one night stands. Unless they're both psycho lol. Which,hey, could be the case too. It's all subjective, isn't it? Also, another indicator for me that this is longer than one night is the fact that he clearly says nightS. This furthers my notion that they have spent some time together and has/had some sort of
relationship before he decides on the hit it and quit it.

this song makes me think about going away to college and it is a couple that are leaving each other and even though they say they are going to stay together they both kind of know this is where it ends and it's not going to last but it was good while it did and this is there last night together

anyone can see the obvious 'one night stand' aspect of the song, but i believe the song can have its own individual meanings to certain people. this was the class song when i graduated high school, and i fell in love with it. Yeah, maybe its telling about a one night stand...but the FEELINGS behind it, the live, love, and regret it expresses...that can be applied to a million different people in a million different situations =/

I agree, it's a song about a one night stand...sorry. First verse: Lied to her (and maybe himself), he's going to be gone in a day. Second: asking her if she's going to be okay w/ that. Chorus: he's toasting to the one night stand and kind of saying to her she knew it was coming but will still cry. Third: 'put your name on the line" as in a notch in the bedpost. And the rest is like he's saying he wants to stay but knows he won't. That's just my interpretation. As much as I would like it to be a great graduation song, I don't think it is

Once again we are at the same place.I love you unconditionally and will always love you and i know you do the same. Come back to me one day when youre not broken and when we have both have healed. I will be there. You cant fake what we had and you cant find that deep connection we found in the short amount of time we did. i have learned from my mistakes and i promise you with every part of my being i am not and will not be that same person. You deserve the best and so do i and i know one day you will realize what we mean to each other . I cant force it on you and you have to have the breakthru i had on your own but i have no doubt ( becuz i know you sometimes better than you know yourself) that you will realize that. I will step back and let you go thru this process because i know without a doubt once you make it thru you will be a stonger person who will show unconditional love and will be willing to take a chance. Remember We will cross that bridge hand in hand together when that time comes - Unfortunately our bridge collapsed and we are both hanging off it we have to figure out how to save ourselves first and only then will we be able to make it to the other side and be able to help the other person.

This is a really great song. It can be interpreted many ways, but unfortunately, it's not supposed to be a deep emotional song. If you do some research, you'll find out the song is actually about a one night stand!

my boyfriend is going to college this january. we met and fell in love way to fast. and idk how im going to say goodbye. He took me to prom this year and this was the last slow song they played. dancing with him i really listened to the music and i realised how hard its going to be to say goodbye.
