At first I didn't really understand the meaning behind the words but I interpret the words as meaning that the memory of something makes her sad and if she lets the memory go then she'll be happy but that scares her. I'm the exact same why because if I do become happy then some one will that happiness away like they always do and it'll be heartache all over again.
