Genius ,to make it flow so nicely lyricly is so hard to do. Chuck berry just makes it sound so easy, all these clever introspective lyrics by likes of radiohead can fuck off this is wear it's at,one of the best ever very impressive.

I absolutely love Elvis' version of this song and think it is definately among the best performances of his great career. I caught it again in "Men In Black" and now everytime I hear it I can hear Tommy Lee Jones speak the words, "Elvis ain't dead. He's just gone home!" One heck of a line! Still cracks me up to this day!

Although Elvis was toast by the time he rolled into Stax Studios in December of '73 to cut his version of this cool tune (Hollywood and Parker had ruined his career by then), He did a great job on it. He tried to recapture the magic from almost 5 years before in American Sound in Memphis (many consider it his best. I think Elvis is Back in '60 was his best, Elvis in Memphis a very close 2nd). But he failed miserably. He walked out of Stax 5 months earlier. Then he tried again in September at his home in Palm Springs, but quit early again (recording two songs: 'I Miss You' and 'Are You Sincere'. Threatening legal action from RCA, he went back to Stax in December to finish it off. So sad what became of this guy. He could have given The Beatles a run for their money. Although he didn't write but a few tunes (co-written), his talent made up for it. I kinda miss the fella. In his prime (54-63), he was the greatest there ever was.

The Grateful Dead covered this song regularly, usually as a show opener. Thank you for the lyrics, as they are not provided in the Complete Annotate Grateful Dead Lyrics, by David Dodd. I'm glad people still have an appreciation for good music. Keep on truckin!!

Yeah, the verse covering Rock Hill to Atlanta is missing.
I recently heard on a local station here in SW Louisiana the song done by a (apparently) Cajun artist. Dunno who it was but it sure was a good rendition done Louisiana style.

A friend once said, "you know? this isn`t about going forward, is about going backwards" he referred to music, cause, nothing´s as good as the roots of anything, I mean, there´s no music nowadays that could be compared to that of classic rock age.

This song in particular, is the pinnacle of rock and roll, and believe me, I`ve heard a lot of rock music. ELVIS IS THE KING

I just discovered this song and this is the stuff Elvis is at his best! There is a reason this man still makes $60 million a year...30 years after he died.

I first heard Chuck Berry do this in the late 60's, and it wasn't until "Men In Black" that I heard the King doin' it. That scene with the flying car, and Tommy Lee Jones singing along was probably the most memorable scenes from the movie. I loved it when Will Smith said, "You DO know Elvis is dead, don't you?" and Tommy Lee came back with, "Nope, he isn't dead, he just went back home." Elvis took a good Chuck Berry tune and pumped it up the way only he could.

The King rocks in India even today ..been a fan of his since childhood and till today cant get over such great song sung with so much of rhythm and beat ... undoubtedly , one of his best.

Maybe missing a verse? I know when the Grateful Dead used to cover this song there was a verse that went something like "...stopped in Charlotte, by passed Rock Hill and there never was a delay, we were 90 miles outside of Atlanta by sundown, rolling across Georgia state..."

Maybe Elvis didn't do this verse?

Hear this song the first time in the documentary : "This is ELvis" and have loved it ever since. Upbeat, catchy and all around fun. Long live the King!

I heard this song for the first time ever when Tommy Lee Jones cruised with it in "Men in Black". I thought this song captured the full essence of the Elvis stlye its perfect balance of flow, rythem, and beat along with the time of its recording may even distinguish it as the pinnacle of Rock and Roll. Definatly my favorite Elvis song ever.

Love this song, first heard a band play it a couple of years ago, had no idea that Elvis had done it...found it, I put on repeat and play it over and over. Greatest song he ever did! Just my opinion...M

This is absolutely one of the best. Elvis absolutely is at his rocking best on this one. My 5 year old keeps the stereo on repeat for hours at a time.

One of Chucks greatest tracks and you can just tell the king is loving the lyrics and having a blast. Just goes to show he was a complete genius right till the end. If you're ever down, put this on and really crank it up.
