I saw this movie ("Grace of My Heart") for the first time tonight. Since I heard it was based on the life of one of my favorite songwriters, Carole King, I was drawn to it... and as the story progressed... I was very moved; the highlight for me being this song..."God Give Me Strength"... I immediately searched for the song and found famous voices blandly singing the song without emotion! Horrible! Don't they understand it was the singer's (in the movie) ability to emote coupled with the fact that we've watched her journey that grabs the listener? She connected to the lyrics. She made us believe they weren't just words, but her own personal story of fragility... anguish... pain... She gives a very believable performance. If anyone is intersted, I have the copy sang 'during' the movie. Too bad you can't see her as she sings... stirring to say the least...
Such a heartbreaking song... | Reviewer: Judi
This song brings me to tears every time I hear it - even when it's sung by Elvis Costello. But as much as I liked the version in "Grace of my Heart," Bette Middler's cover tore my heart out. Such a powerful song deserves to be sung by an equally powerful singer.
Sounds much better not sung by Elvis | Reviewer: Mary De Filippis
Loved whoever sang it in the movie gave better details twice erased by the net, getting VERY BORED AND ANNOYED would pay for a recording of the woman who sings the song in the movie. That is the only reason I bought the sound track from the movie - The woman singing God Give Me Strength.

I love this song as it was in the movie full of rage by a woman; it sounds a bit homo sung by a man though. I was extremely irritated when I bought the soundtrack expressly because I loved the beautiful rage, beauty and anger in the movie song and then it turned into this wimpy little song on the soundtrack CD. GOOOODDDDDDDDDDD. You should be buried in the chunnel for that!
