too much loss | Reviewer: jess | 11/13/09

this is the 4th year in a row I've lost a friend. it seems to happen around this time of year without fail now. suicide is what took our friend this year. this song came on my last fm quite randomly. it's the only thing that's helped.

i love all of your comments, everyones. i can relate to the people who have lost loved ones to drugs...especially heroin. :( i lost one of my really good friends this past december to the forsaken drug. I myself struggle with addiction still to this day. This song makes me feel a little better sometimes...other times it makes me curl up into a ball and cry my eyes out, while i sit, talking with my friend who is no longer here. is that weird? hmm.. this song as alot of Elliot Smith's other songs has inspired me to create some amazing artwork though. so i guess all in all, all i can say is thanks. he brought us these tragic and twisted lyrics to do as we please and for that i will forever be greatful.

I've tried to find a song better than this but to me it does not exist... I'm 7 days deep kicking a 3 year methadome outpatient (im sure you all know how I got there) clinic.. I've been sick everyday in ways I never knew I could, but this one song makes me cry both in joy and fear. I barely know who I am after the years of opiates and this song means more than any earthly object to me.

This song i believe captures the soul of everyone. It is a beautiful song full of images so someone in pain and mixed up in everything. The song is something great to listen to whike trying to cope with a loss. Sad the song is, but you can relate to every word that is sung by Elliott. I was turned onto him by a friend, it all started with St.Ides Heaven. However with that came the rest of his music. AMAZING STUFF.

Road to Recovery | Reviewer: c | 9/24/08

This is an amazing song. When I was in high school I was addicted to all kinds of drugs and it got really bad. I could relate my life to this song in so many ways. Not only did this song help me see myself in a new light during my addiction, but helps me stay sober to this day. When I hear it, its really brings me back to how I felt back in those days, and reminds me I never want to feel that way again.

Genius | Reviewer: Emmett Rhys | 10/9/07

This is one of my fave Elliot tracks Great big bass line, crashing drums, screaming guitar & who else do you know that is brilliant enough to include lyrics about Parliments of Owls?

I believe this song says it all for the last few months of Elliott's life.

beautiful tragedy | Reviewer: miss j | 4/22/07

i agree with tina's comment. i dated a guy who introduced elliott smith to me, and when i broke up with him, he started using heroin (again) and od'd. now i cannot listen to elliott smith without being totally depressed. but that incident, notwithstanding, i believe his music relates to a lot of isolated, tortured and despondent people like myself.

Fond Farewell... | Reviewer: Tina | 3/28/07

This is the single most deressing song ever written, so why do I like it so much? Forget about all of those bands like Fall Out Boy pretending to be music you can cry to..Elliott Smith did it first and much better than the rest.
