Turning Point | Reviewer: Cheyenne | 6/16/09

I'm only 12 and i go through so much more crap then even adults. One main problem is my abusive father. How do you stay calm when everything around you isn't? This song helped me. It shows me that there will be an escape from all of the violence and crap. I gives me hope...

I am inspired by this song | Reviewer: Roderick | 4/10/09

Should I settle down after all these years of f**king around?

Should I marry the one I love or should I marry the one who love me?

Should I follow God and fight the bloody war, killing all those motherfuckers? (God has given me the privilege to kill)

Please continue to inspire me with signs and codes, dear God.

Desparado | Reviewer: Ham | 3/22/09

This song reminds me of myself. I have a suckish life and i am very violent and foul mouthed, telling people that "I JUST SWEAR TO FUCKING MUCH YOU ASSHOLE!" so, whenever i want to calm down after a long swearing/violence streak, i listen to this song. I am only 13, but i love the eagles. (don't ask about my problems, YOU FUCKIN' WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND ASSHOLE!"

Why I came to my senses... | Reviewer: David | 3/17/09

This song moved me when it came out. It challenged the desperado in me for almost ten years-and then a queen of hearts came into my life. I might have passed her by had it not been for this SONG. There's been a rainbow above me now for over 25 years...Eternal gratitude to the writer and his wisdom!

heart touching song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/11/09

I really love this song. I think it's about someone who has suffered, and hasn't let go of the suffering. I think this song is advice to someone to love and be loved before they die. I think this someone is isolated and bitter, wanting something they can't have, refusing to be loved. The part about the queens I think is saying to be careful how and who you love. To be around someone for love, not for money or worldly things. I think this is a heart touching song. It reminds me of someone I made up a couple years ago. I don't think anyone could not like this song.

Classic | Reviewer: Paul | 1/26/09

Hey Guys
If you want an example of how badly this classic can be performed check out westlife's version on "you tube" which they sang on the itv programme "loose women". No emotion, total lack of appreciation of the lyrical content of this superb track. Oh yeah, and sung with a smile on their faces. You can't manufacture talent!!!!!

Listen to the song in Context | Reviewer: Guitarista | 10/11/08

Guys, guys...

Like all songs it can mean whatever you want it to mean... but to understand it properly you need to listen to the whole album of the same name. It is nothing less than a country rock opera - one of the finest pieces of work in all of rock music. When the song is reprised at the end of the album, if it doesn't make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, you should check for a pulse or see a doctor...

meanings | Reviewer: kelton | 7/28/08

this a fantastic song...but it has different meenings to people. i think it is about someone who has suffered emotional dammage and has
"shut themself down" the person does not want to be hurt so he looks for someone without imperfections who can't hurt him. i know for a fact that turning off your emotions makes it hard to feel pain, sorrow and even "good" emotions. he is too fearful so he lives as a detatched loner...

In awe | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/2/08

I've heard this song for so many years..been with me sing i was a kid. I never really took the trouble to pay attention to the lyrics until a couple of days ago. Imagine finding the beautiful words amongst the amazing notes; it's awesome. I can't believe I missed out so much of the song! I'll be looking forward to the next time i get to sing this song live..

Love it to bits..

Great great tune | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/4/08

This song has both a beautiful melody and lyrics that evoke great poetic imagery. It speaks of a romantic loner, such as is in many of us. This song speaks of someone who takes solice in being detached and alone, even though that detachment brings longing for meaning with another. And in the end, the song concludes with hope for something better. Great tune. It has it all.

Don't Kid Yourself | Reviewer: Robert | 1/26/08

At the short side of 50 years old, don't kid yourself that it NOT ok to carry on one's life happily and succesfully without a "significant other" in one's life.Life has plenty of motivating factors and joy to NOT spend too much time hoping your quasi-soul-mate will pop out from among the pages of life.

Song for Richard | Reviewer: Doc | 11/12/07

I had a nephew who was also my best friend. This was the only song he ever knew all the words to, because he lived the life of a Desperado and always looked for what he couldn't have. He died in a tragic housefire, and this has been our "Richard Song" ever since.
Miss ya, buddy....

YES | Reviewer: Brooke | 11/6/07
