I've been on a concert and i was the right distance away of the stage and it sounded perfectly! I was not a such big fan of this speed progressive metal music, but when i've heard dragonforce i've changed my mind and i liked it. So i decided to visit them life and i was like O_O! The only thing i dont agree with you, others advantages/disadvantages are ok with me;) My DragonForce | Reviewer: Ariel | 2/18/09 I've read your opinions and reviews about this band, and it seems that there is an argument about the quality of Dragonforce's songs: There is a common agreement that this is a good band, yet some of you claim that by playing too many similar songs, and by composing too long solos, they are ruining their potential, while others argue that it doesn't really matter, and these problems can be easily solved (and of course, some of you claiming that these are not even problems but the essence of Dragonforce). I would like to put on the table the advantages and the disadvantages of this band as you presented them and as I find them: Advantages: 1. Dragonforce are making an excellent job with the composing of thier music: Thier songs can truly get to you because of the unshakable power that each note has (The only band ever that can make me what I would like to call, "Musical orgasm", with how wierd that it sounds). 2. Dragongfocre is a bounch of exacllent singers: These vocalists really fit in with eachother, combine it with the great melody that they make and get a fantastic band (Dragonforce presents for me the true power of metal, that makes it the supreme type of music of all). disadvantages: 1. Similar songs: many of Dragonforce's songs feel the same, with the same structure, sound and words (not good for a band, make its music boring for some listeners). 2. They suck live: Even tough they sound great in their recerded songs, it's a totally diffrent story in a live concert, which expose the ugly side of this band (for some people), who can't really preform its own songs live (it's a common problem of metal bands, and i'm not surprised to encounter it in the live concerts of Dragonforce). 3. Too long solos: These overkill pure melodies (without singing) are a true problem of this band, especially for a guy like me who looks for the excitement of the vocals in a song. If Dragonforce wants to appeal to more crowd, they have to change thier attitude for solos, and to adopt the approach of bands such as Dream Evil, who makes great short solos, straight to the point. 4. Silly lyrics: I'm sorry Role playing gamers, but the over repeated lyrics in Dragonforce's song make me feel that they are a bad excuse for the great melodies that they make, and despite these lyrics greatly fit with the melodies, I think that Dragonforce are scrwing up in this point, because most of thier songs don't really talk about anything (for me), and a message in a song can only improve it. It doesn't mean that I expect Dragonforce to write heavy songs about the meaning of life, but I would be happy to see them putting a more clear point in thier songs. My soul and my spirit is a good example for a song with a clear point (humanity sucks). If dragonforce will adopt this attitude and take care of this problem, their songs will be much more fun and meaningful for me. These are the advantages and the disadvantages of Dragonforce as I see them. Looking at them right now can help me with expressing my personal opinion about this band: DRAGONFORCE IS THE BAND THAT MAKES THE BEST COMBINATION BETWEEEN MELODY AND VOCALS, DESPITE ITS MANY DISADVANTAGES. This is a fact for me, and the only way to change it is to show me a band that sounds better than this one. Moreover, the problems of this great band can be solved one by one: The similar songs are not a problem for me (yet it is still a problem for Dragongforce), I know it becase I am listing to this band for about 2 years and hadn't got enough, favriote songs come and goes, yet I feel satisfaction from this band. Despite the similarity of its songs, I'm still searching for more of it. They suck live, so what? I don't listen to them live, and as long as their recorded songs remain so great, I will keep listening to them no matter how suck are they in a live concert. In order to overcome the problem of the too long solos I just skip the solo and pass straight to the final chant, how simple can that be? One click with your mouse and the overkilling solo in no more. And about the lyrics of thier songs? Well, this problem is just not big enough, and won't make me to stop listening to such a great band. I just ignore the lyrics and learn it just in order to get a better experience from the song (after all, a person who can sing the song he listens to, like it more). With these problems gone, I can just Sit comfortably on my chair, raise the volume and go to another great ride, With my band, Dragonforce! I must disagree with some of the recent comments because dragonfoce was known well before gh3. Inhuman rampage being my favorite album and obviousy containing TTFAF came out in 2006 and gh3 did not come out until the following year. I went to a Dragonforce concert last night and it was utterly phenomenal. They have much improved at live shows, they played: Heroes Of Our Time, Operation Ground And Pound, Revolution DeathSquad, The Warrior Inside, Reasons To Live, My Spirit Will Go On, Valley Of The Damned, Soldiers Of The Wasteland, Fury Of The Storm, E.P.M and at the end everyone went mad when they heard that famous finger tapping intro to THROUGH THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES!!!.
