B-side bliss...

Not ever having heard any other Doves songs, this was the song that introduced me to the Doves. Immediately i purchased "Some Cities." The Doves strike me as a band with nothing to prove. They do what they do, and they do it well. "One of these days" is a song I wish i'd written, to say the least. It's a song that rushes you to the face of wrath, and freezes you there to stand by and observe, before turning elsewhere in search of an unfounded warmth. This song was not written, it was crafted.
It's a perfect example of why the Doves are so unique. Their sound finds that perfect blance between the humble band, and the sound that you come to realise is a mystery in progress. A mystery in disguise, and a mystery in the making, with a touch of nostalgia.
