Reference to the one he calls another Hitler is apparently men like Ahmadinejehad...people who deny the Holocaust ever took place. But history's darkest lessons...the most important. Remind us of how easily we can become the monsters like the men that killed Draiman's ancestors. Those men... weren't just there at that place, that time...were people like you and me, somehow managed to find justification for what they did, believe it was the right thing to do, or just didn't care. If we forget...could happen again. But as long as the message is carried by men like Draiman, it won't be.
A soul filled with pride |
When I first heard this song, I thought to myself "wow, this is a really powerful song about the Holocaust." Then I found out David Draiman is (technically) Jewish, even though he's not very religious. This song really fills my soul with hope that maybe someday, people can stop pretending that the Holocaust never happened, and we can live in peace.
