And maybe he is admitting it. But he is vindicated and sure that he is right. He is admitting he isn't perfect, but that he is willing to change, and he understands what the other person was trying to say, "i seeing now the things in me you swear you saw yourself". He didn't understand what they wanted. Now he sees the flaws that need to be changed. But it is too late... too deep now to swim against the cuurent... he is saying that its over. Thus he is sorry that he couldn't see it before and it is too late. But he is vindicated, because even though he lost her, he is better for it.
