Ive listened 2 this song 4 years but it never meant anything to me .... just a good song ... but i broke up with my girlfriend yesterday & when i listen 2 this song , the lyrics are describing everything i feel ... i miss my girlfriend so much , and i broke up with her foolishly , i want her back so bad now ... but she has moved on and found some1 else. ( you dont know what you have till its gone ) . This song is GREAT!!! makes me sad though

I know what you all mean... Me and my ex broke up about 2 months ago but I still think about it here and there. She was everything... I remeber those nights laying beside each other just talking about everything with her hair in my face and both laughing... It's so sad to go through. The person that completes you changes and ends up something so fake. She's now writing me back a lot saying she wants me back but shes the one that broke our 2 year relationship just so she could go with another guy... This song speaks to us all, good song!

This is kind of the opposite of what most of you have said.
I can relate to this song, but I was the one who broke up with him.
It's just past the year marker since I did it, and I still think about him almost everyday.
I had to break up because, like the first reply, we just began to fight and talks between us became awkward, hence the line:
"Avoiding the spots where we'd have to speak."
I can also greatly relate to the lines:

Because I've been single since him, which as I said is now over a year, and so I'm desperate for someone to make out with, and whenever I see him he looks so different, he's been doing stupid shit and is always with a new girl each time I see him.
He's trying so hard to make the world think he's carefree, but I can see he's hurting so bad and I just want to help him, I just don't know how.
I don't think he'd want me to help him anyway.
I wish he could know I still love him and hate to see him like this, I just want him to be happy.

I loved her so much. We fought so much, she changed, I changed, we grew apart. I love the ghost of us- chasing the ghost of a good thing. I remember the times we laid together and her soft delicious smelling chesnut hair was in my face as we laughed and talked about the world. Her eyes, they're so beautiful- but so different now. Her laugh,I miss it so much.
This song, vibrates through me- just as it does all of you- its magic. Dashboard is magic.
