It's excellent creation, is probably only comparable to Joni Mitchell's essential love song, "Case of You" --- one of my favorite love songs of all time (and probably the best one ever, too). The way it turns from desperate to even more desperate, just when you thought it was over, draws you in. It can make you cry tears you never thought you'd cry when you listen to it, and the violin's intensity, the woman's voice as she sings her own thoughts in the song --- is like an oasis in the middle of a barren desert. Damien Rice is one of the very few singer/songwriters who can sing with such emotion and can write such simple, honest, and powerful lyrics. The Blower's Daughter is a song about falling in love and not being able to express those feelings truly. Damien Rice is constantly being compared to John Mayer, Aqualung, and even Jack Johnson. But Damien Rice has something special that none of these singers possess. Although he is not mainstream at all, he proved that he can come up with a song that we all can relate to, which is why The Blower's Daughter is a beautiful song.
