this song is hauntingly beautiful and truly captured my attention for the first time when my fiance and I were on the verge of breaking up and I cried myself to sleep every night for a week...This song is still a comfort to me even when I'm sad about a bad day. It's like my personal lullaby.
Controversy. | Reviewer: Luke MacNeil | 8/9/2006
Durring a conversation over the O album, the origin of this song came up. A friend of mine mentioned that the song silent night is controversial in Ireland, probably due to the Irish trouble with Britain. It was suggested to me that Lisa's choice in modifying this song may have been political in nature, rather than a song about a relationship. I have been searching the internet for facts to support this, but since I can't find any, I can't claim it true.... It is something interesting to think about though, even if its not true. The O album is absolutly brilliant.

A very moving silent night | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/15/2004
Lisa Hannigan's voice works a treat here, in this interesting version of Silent Night. The new lyrics about a relationship in trouble are very moving and poignant when combined with the familiar melody. Its just a pity that this song is buried in a hidden track on the 'O' album!
